Yes, having a piano at home makes practicing regularly much easier. I have no idea what your budget is, but I highly recommend students of mine in your situation, or new students who aren't sure whether they want to spend alot of money on the piano.... to consider the following options:
1) Buy a used Yamaha. Set your price range, and start piano hunting and look in classifieds. Average, price for over 10 years Yamaha U1... over $ 15 000 at least.
2) I have students who bought ROLAND digital piano. They have developed into a great piano touch.... I used to be against students using it to practice, but in fact, now many Music schools and academies in N. America, uses digital pianos for all their music needs and practice rooms.
I would recommend investing in a piano or digital under $ 15000..... hope this helps you.
DO NOT BUY china made pianos or korean.... sounds HORRIBLE ! And no resell value like Yamaha, or Petrof, or Kawai.
