How can I apply UK State Boarding Schools?

My son is getting on very well at Wymondham. No homesick and indeed we have to pray fro his phone calls some time. We took him to the college at the end of August and let him have a good look at the college. The campus is very large and lively. I hope he'll enjoy as much as he could in the next few years at Wymondham.

The "right of abode" in England is a prerequisite for admission to a state boarding school.

The principal is coming next month for interview, i hope my daugthter would get in.

Oh albert who do you ask as guardian for your son?

How was your daughter interview? My son has the interview today for year 9. It seems only know the result in December. Also, not much people for year 9 but year 12.

My son also have a interview today for Wymondham College Year 12.  Is it difficult to get in?  Do anybody know about Lancaster Royal Grammar School and The Royal Grammar School, High wycombe?  Both of them are state schools, too.

I thought it is quite difficult to get in this school, so I heard.

I still do not know the result yet, I really hope my daughter could get in year 9.

Yes apparently we can only know the result in Dec...keeping my fingers crossed.

Wymondham college has accepted my daughter for y9 next september ...so happy.

But I know this year they do not have places for y8 and y10, so no offers were made this year.

Any comments on Reading School? Are the discipline of Reading students Ok? Any recommendation of host family in Reading? Thx

Hi CPU1995,

I like Reading School too, From FT's secondary school rankiing 2011, it's 11th out of 2xxx schools,
very high ranking! So, you can imagine how difficult to get in.
However, I know, these high standard of schools like to accept those elite schools' students, such as
SPCC, DGS, DBS, La Salle, Queen's, etc.

It's been quite some time.  Did your son applied the state schools you mentioned.  If you hold British passport and have the right to abode, then your son doesn't have to pay tuition fees to the state schools, other than the boarding fees.

Remind you all that Reading School is not fully boarding school for what I know,  it's only for weekly.

Actually, I am not decided to let my son to study Reading becasue I have paid the deposit for another elite independent school.
