In fact, it depends on the curriculum of the school you would like, actually, Victoria and SC are so different in their learning and teaching approch, I don't know why so many parents like to compare in between.

For me, I prefer double teacher system rather than only one as everyone know SC only have one class teacher through K2 and K3 and the NET teacher only would attend the class in story time only....of course so many parents choose SC because it's reputation, and some of my friend's child also studying in SC or KV right now....

If you like IB curriculum approach, you can choose Victoria or HKPS, if not....SC is the choice also.

Hi All,

Last year, my priority was HKPS and Victoria.  But then because of the relocation of HKPS aroused in this April, I chose Victoria.

Actually, the curriculum of HKPS is good: activity approach, stress on reading, language training and the academic performance is pretty good.  Heard that the principal is very kind and professional.
However, the supervisor treats the school just as one of her business matters.  It really made me angry.  As Parkview Kindergarten at Kowloon Station is her another business, the reputation is so bad.
Despite of this factor, HKPS is an ideal kindy and it will move to a new campus nearby in next Sept.

And then I chose Victoria.  The campus in Homantin is not convenient to me.  No school bus service to my living place.  And the school fee is high.  However, the curriculum and the teachers impress me a lot.
Someone would say it's commercial.  But I would say that it's a matter of give and take.  If you want to enjoy IB curriculum, it really charges you more than local curriculum.  It's reasonable.

For SC, I didn't apply it last year.  Therefore, no comment.

Thanks for the thorough discussion.  I have re-read the prospectus of Vic and their teacher's qualification are really impressive.  On the other hand, even HKPS stresses that their ratio of local and expat teacher is 1:1 but little exposure on their teachers qualification.

As for SC, I heard so many friends say their children can get in and get on with so called brand one primary schools after graduated from SC.

Also, bother me is, after our kids been taught in IB method in their kinder lives will they adapt to traditional primary teaching smoothly??

worries after worries, doubt after doubt why is it so hard for us parents nowaday

worrymum,

Victoria runs IB curriculum in some campus and they also teach phonics, pre-writing exercise, concept of maths and do a lot of reading in K1.

Education is under reform and the so-called traditional school is changing too!  Whatever school you choose for your kid, parent's involvement is important.  Don't worry!  It's also time for us to grow to be a good mum.

BTW, HKPS starts writing from 2nd term in K1 but SC and Victoria start writing from K2.

yes same worries with me in HKPS, but anyway still need to see the result....

I agree with that if parents want to let their child learning under IB curriculum, it's the matter give and take....quite true....so I choose Victoria...

To be honest....many of my friend's child graudated from SC but they also didn't got allocation in P1, at least not ideal...so I think for the student percentage of SC, that's reasonable...SC have almost 800 hundreds enrollment..one of my friend's child now studying K2 in SC but her daugther need to have make up class in English in ESF on weekend....oh well....so family cooperation is very important in child's academic...
