interview - Canadian International School

does anybody received any news about the interview ?

I applied for the pre-reception class (the youngest grade) for year 2006 Sept. The interview should be arranged in these two months. Will the school contact us for interview by phone or by mail ?

Dear Ribbon,

I have received the interview letter yet, and I will attend the interview this Sat (14/1) morning. But I am very concern about most of students in this school are very rich, I am not very rich even I can afford the school fees and bonds. Shall they compare their family backgrounds when they grow up?

o........I haven't. When did they send out the letters ?
Did they call you to confirm ? I am worried because I sometimes need to turn off my mobile due to meetings. I am afraid I missed their call before.

Did you apply for the pre-reception class (the youngest grade) ? how old is your child ?

Don't worry. We can afford sending him to international school, but not very rich either.

Dear Ribbon,
I will share all about the interview to you after Sat, but my son is apply the Preparatory class. My friend's daughter applied the PR last year, she told me the teacher will ask the children some question and they also observe the children when they played together. And the questions are very simple, for example, they gave them some toys to show to them which one is a lion, tiger something like that. They had around three to four teachers to take the interview with the children. She told me that the children just like to have a playgroup. So don't worry about that and good luck to you.

My son is four years old. He was the last two to come out from the interview. He told me he like CDNIS very much, So I hope he can pass the interview. When shall we get the acceptance letter? How about your son? Did he like that school?

May I know what do mean by "last two to come out from the interview"? My daughter attended the interview as well. There were so many people on sat and around 3 children went to the classroom for assessment with 2 teachers. I believe the interview lasted until afternoon. Cuz I learnt from another parent that some appointments were scheduled at 1pm.

Hi gogocat,
"Last two to come out from the interview" means they have bigger chance accepted by the school. It is because my friend told me if the children cannot answer many question or they cannot play with the other children, they would come out first. My son stayed in the classroom for one hour. Last year, her daughter came out just after ten minutes.

my daughter did attend the interview last year for the pre-reception class. Although she passed the assessment test, she could not get a place due to the our late application in Oct. The school management informed us that once they have got children withdrawing from the school, she may start her school in early this year. Unfortunately, no one withdraws...hence, once again, we have to attend an interview for the prep class for the coming year...
in fact, for pre-reception, one parent can accompany the child to the classroom, but you have to leave as soon as your child has settled down. I believe if your child doesnt have any stranger anxiety and could stay with the teacher for nearly an hour. your child will surely pass the assessment. the content of the assesssment is just as another mom said here. they got many toys in the classroom, the teachers may try to approach your child and ask some simple questions. they may ask children to put on apron and draw..they may be asked to build something with lego and asked what it is...

My boy came out with the other 2 kids together. One girl cried and came out after 3 mins. My boy said he did all the things the teacher required. Hopefully, he can get accepted to this school.

May I know why your baby have to sit for an interview again for pre class and not for the reception class? Did you make you application for pre-reception in October 2005 or 2004?

I am a bit worried cos I made my application in Oct 2005 for my daughter for the pre-reception commencing Aug 2006. I was not informed that I am a late applicant and my daugther will sit for an interview on 18 Feb 2006.

As you said your elder son is studying in CDNIS now, would you like to share some more on this school?
I used to learn something good about this school from those friends hv children currently studying in the school. however, other friends (with no children there), used to tell me the chinese and english standard are both low.... In fact, I hv been there, I noticed that children there were able to speak good english. yet, when i attended the interview last sat. the english of the young gentleman sitting over the helpdesk was really so-so..

pl share more on this school.
