我都對大圍培僑書院有興趣,不過BB只是一歲多,還有時間部署.

Yungma,
不用擔心以普通話教授數學這個問題,我以前讀蘇浙小學的時候,都是以普通話背書/算式/乘數表...,完全沒有問題.(我在家裡是不說普通話的,除了讀書/背書的時候

)

請問:

小朋友現就讀一般坊間幼兒園k2,園方教學方針主張愉快學習的,功課不多,不催谷普通話及英文的,讓小朋友讀培僑的話,會否在適應及溝通上會有困難?
是否現在便需開始加強他普通話及英語的能力?
請賜教!

Language is important, so it is better to initiate your child's interest to read books as earliest as possible. The best way is to go to the library as a habit. Besides, some DVD in English/Puntongua will also be useful.

如果打算讀一間真正由開學那天便用普通話和英文教學的學校的話, 預先訓練小朋友對這兩種語文的聽和講的能力是非常有幫助的. 以今年的同學仔的反應是最初整天都不知老師在說甚麼, 所以覺得很悶. 當然, 過了一般時間會習慣, 但個人認為最怕"開壞頭", 尤其是現在的教法是在升小學前會給小朋友對小學生活作一個美好的期盼.

至於寫字活動方面會在下學期才較著重.

從bk得知今年考培僑有考過普通話和英文, 相信以後越多人考, 挑選會越嚴格.

培僑的課程接駁香港的大學應不是問題, 因為校長乃考試局成員之一, 對未來的教育路向的掌握較多. 從多間學校的簡介會中取得的信息是未來大部份的直資都會以能考取和接駁本港和海外大學為目標.

2/你說小朋友初時聽不明並且很悶,後來習慣了,是學校有步

[對小學生活作一個美好的期盼]是當孩子預備上小學時, 家長和幼師都會給孩子"上小學是一件快樂的事"的信息, 使她們期盼升上小學而不會感到惶恐和憂慮.

[開壞頭]是當事情開始時-如升小學的初期等, 事情就發展得不好, 給孩子一個壞印象和不安的感受.

[初時悶, 很來習慣了]是孩子經過一般時間的適應和學習後便習慣了聽和說外語. 是一種自然的進步.

請問小朋友初入讀時,會否需要很長時間適應?包括語文溝通及小學生活的適應上,如開頭的關口易過渡,往後的校園生活應是不錯的,是嗎?因我聽聞入讀此校的小朋友大都是開心的,不知他們在初初適應時,校方會否作出支持及輔導給小朋友?老師是否有足夠的愛心及耐性?

Well, to answer your question, I need to type a lot then

I think it's quite a challenge for every parent at the first few weeks: new environment, new teachers, new classmates. I think the school has done quite a good job in setting up the situation and providing a positive environment for us. They have a very long induction period (>a month)...I understand they have a lot of things to do during the beginning stage but it seems to be very good now. Teachers are hardworking and responsive to our needs.

My son is happy studying there and I am also happy coz I don't need to worry too much about my son and his study there. My son's Putonghua and English has improved a lot cause they really focused on language issues (2/3 of the lesson time are put on langauge). I don't need to give him extra tutorial lessons but as suggested by their teachers, I bring them to the library and find books acoording to the instructions of the school (they teach English based on themes).

From the number of parents applying this year, I think it will become one of the most popular schools in HK...I am not too much worry about the banding from this perspective coz they choose all the students and parents themselves...those who does not 'match' will go and those who support will stay, so it is really nice sometimes to chat with other parents with the same view

Do you feel any particular atmosphere on politics since the opening of the school? Any political education/activities so far? I am(actually most in my peer group) still being puzzled by its strong political background.

Hope the parents can let me know more about the facts. Thanks.

not a bit....it only focuses on international perspectives while maintaining a stong Chinese culture element in their curriculum...

I've also got the same concern before, and I asked one of their teachers and he said after 1997 their Chinese network becomes their advantage...their students can get to the Chinese network to visit and practice easier....also he said the way they convey the love of China is to understand the current Chinese economic and political issues instead of the 'old way' of thinking...which is what I think my child can gain over the other kids in the future. So far I see nothing 'strange' happened, everything runs more like an international school rather than a traditonal thinking school...probably bcoz Dr Law (the principal) and other teachers are having global thinking...

我暫時也感覺不到培僑有政治色彩, 而且這不是她的課程部份.

有時透過新聞看到一些中學教師本身有強烈的政治思想, 便會帶學生參與示威或遊行, 說是讓學生學會關心社會. 這當然不是其任教的學校的立場. 是好是壤, 各人的立場不同.

人們常擔心培僑的政治立場, 不知道校方會否因避嫌而特別向老師作出指引. 印象所及, 從未見過老牌培僑中學的學生上街.

個人的意見認為政治思想可以是佷極端和感性的. 若家長本身有很強烈的政治思想, 例如對中方背景很敏感等, 還是不進入培僑為妙. 免得心中的憂慮, 影響校園的和諧氣氛.

謝謝你們的資料，本人其實也察覺培僑的很多優點，只是由朋輩產生的心理壓力確實不少，希望經過未來半年再多觀察及適應後能作出如你們的明智決定。
