You can try the free sound recording and editing software "Audacity" which can be download at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. On top of sound clip editing and recording, the software can convert sound clip file to other format.

The format of the sound file you obtain from Tempoary Internal Folder is WAV/MP3. After you installed the software, you just need to double kick that WAV/MP3 file and then export it using AIFF format. You can then save it as Sound??.AIF and copy to appropriate folder in your hard disk.

Before I set up the Shortcut, do I need to copy the files to my computer first? I couldn't find "content" in Shortcut. Sorry I'm totally ignorant about computers. I wish I could join you in adding the Chinese version but I'm afraid I won't be able to contribute.

Do you follow the Doman's method and show each category to 依言 three times a day? My child is 3 and she just won't let me show her. She wants to be the one who controls what she sees and so she would click on one category and move on to the next until she finishes seeing all she likes. It's impossible to have a break between categories or sessions. As I'm not following the instructions, I wonder how much she can absorb. Have you encountered this problem? Any advice?

I have been using flash cards for a while but I have never made my own digital flash cards.

依言爸爸及大家,

我有用這套Picture Dictionary 的教材, 所以都想參加. 不過我對你所講的做法完全不明白, 唔識用Irfanview, 又唔識什麼是AIF格式, 而且名額已滿了, 還有什麼地方我可以幫手的呢? (真不好意思, 自己電腦麻麻, 還說幫手! 請見諒.)

Sandrine,

You don't need to copy the CD content to the hard disk for making the shortcut icon. Just use "File manager" to browse the CD, find the "BitWorld.exe" file and create a shortcut to the desktop of your computer.

If your child wants to browse all categories, it is not a problem as long as "playing" is a kind of learning process. Just let her use the Picture Dictionary when she wants to is fine. The key of success are:

1. Don't bore your child
2. Dont' pressure your child
3. Don't be tense
4. Be joyous
5. Be Inventive
6. Answer all of the child's questions
7. Give him worthwhile material to read

我已經寄給你們一個電郵, 並附上一些必須的檔案(中文翻譯檔 + 10個白色name??.pcx + 墨錄色title.pcx) 供大家開始中文化的工作了. 如有問題, 可以在這個題目討論, 大家可以互相幫助.

How are your progress with the sound recording?

I have problem with that and can't solve it yet? When we have the file in the Temporary Internet file, they are in xxxxxxxxx.MP3 format, if double click it, then the sound will play again. Except to use the record button on the Audacity. I am unable to open the file on Audacity/Window Media player etc using the "Open" function under "File"

However, even if I record the sound and use the export function, there are only .WAV, .OOG etc and no AIF format. I tried to rename the file as title.aif/soundxx.aif, but there are errors opening the files.

Please help!

另外，也想分享一下在制作上碰到的問題：-

1。Copy CD 到 C:\時必須COPY 到 root directory，否則打開不到檔案(謝謝依言爸爸教路)

2。制作Title 檔案是有一點不同，也是用“Insert text into selection" , 不過需要click"Text is transparent",再變更字形的顏色為白色。

3。記得檢查一下你的電腦用的中文軟件是不是簡体字版本

我的電腦就是不知道點解，經過infraView打開的dataxx 檔案，全部變成簡体字

(不過在WORD/EXCEL 是無事！！！)

另外，就是錄音的問題問下。

)

First you need to copy the file from Temporary Internet Folder to Desktop, and then move the icon of the file to the icon of audacity to open it.

We need to export file in AIF format so as to use in the IAHP Picture Dictionary Envirnoment. In audacity, select "File" - "

references" from the menu bar, select the third folder named "File formats" and you can see a "Uncompressed export format" in which you can select AIFF 16 bits/AIFF 32 bits. Select either of them and now you can export file in AIFF format. Please try.

Thanks for your reply. Now able to download the file as AIFF. But still have problem running after clicking the PD icon.

(Data Not Found 128-5) Error Drive CD ROm?? I think I try more to see later.

Is the problem occured after you have copied the AIF format sound file to your hard disk?

I remember that you have encountered the same problem and it has been solved after copying the CD Rom files to root directory of the hard disk.

我加入聲音的做法如下:

1. 準備: 在首次使用audacity程式時, 你要點選File

references, 選擇File Formats, 在uncompressed export format選AIFF, 那樣以後你就可以把檔案export成為AIFF格式了.

2a. 錄音: 先進入audacity程式, 錄完聲音後, 把檔案export成為sound??.AIF. 當然聲音檔要儲存在適當的directory, 及與圖畫相關的聲音. 即是 C:\Bitsdata\DataN\Lan2\Sound??.AIF. 例如Volume2的DATA02是圖像符號, Name01.PCX是電話. 那樣Sound01.AIF應該便是電話的發音.

2b. 用文字發聲工具 - http://www.kanhan.com/tdc/tools1.html

先輸入一個詞語, 例如"電話", 選廣東話, 按"即時發音". 然後你會在Temporary Internet Folder 找到一個檔名由一堆數字及英文字組成的MP3檔案. 把這個檔案抄往桌面, 便可以用audacity開啟. 開啟後, 把檔案export成為sound??.AIF. 當然聲音檔要儲存適當的directory, 及與圖畫相關的聲音. 即是 C:\Bitsdata\DataN\Lan2\Sound??.AIF. 例如Volume2的DATA02是圖像符號, Name01.PCX是電話. 那樣Sound01.AIF應該便是電話的發音.

Thanks for your sharing and detailed description. After setting the uncompressed format to 16 bit, it works. But still learning how to break one file into 10 little sound file, as to do it more efficiently.

One month should be OK. I think i could try hard to complete the project before the deadline.

我試過將用DATA1新的SOUND1.AIF至SOUND10.AIF及TITLE.AIF代替舊的試下,試下入去run,怎料,不能繼續run到,然後出現以下的文字:

DATA NOT FOUND(128-5)
ERROR DRIVE CD-ROM
C:¥Bitsdata¥data01¥lan01¥title.aif

但其實我是在C:(root)進行, 未取代之前就可以開啟,如在CD一樣
我不知是我SAVE的FILE有問題,還是方法錯了,我不敢再錄音,待有答案後才繼續!
