Today i took my september b to have the interview in spc. Actually she answered all questions correctly. But the teacher asked why she used english all time mad i saw her didn't like her using english .Is it really our fault?

Both parents are native speaking of English? Is English the mother tongue of your bb? Any special reason that your bb is taught in English as first Language?

如果間學校以中文為主要教學語言, 老師咁問都唔出奇.
曾經聽過有小朋友去面試又係用英文答問題, 最後個老師問家長知唔知佢地其實係中文幼稚園.

I think if they don't like children answering in english. Why don't they write as the criteria of application form. Learning english is a trend to survive in hk

個人應為如果老師問中文應該搭中文……問英文就應該搭英文……如果老師問普通話咁就當然答普通話啦

其實冇話啱定錯，只有適合唔適合。其實只要你報名之前去做下資料搜集，就㑹知道。佢學校網站寫明採用中文為教學語言，輔以英文或普通話。佢地梗係想你小朋友講中文答問題啦。好多人見名校就報，冇研究一下啱啱自己既小朋友。

It's parents' fault not be able to teach the kids to speak up bilingual. Bilingual means not only they are able to speak in two languages, but also they can switch to different channel whenever there is. Answer in Cantonese when they are ask in and vice versus. For me, my girl is able to communicate in both chinese n english fluently but I didn't teach her colours and some object name in Chinese ( don't want her to mix up), hence I didn't enrol in kg which is Chinese as the teaching medium. The trend is both Chinese and English is equally important. Knowing English only is not competitive enough, unless you targets international school

我地in spc, 我個小朋友都主要用英文答，我地果個老師好體諒我地，因為我地返工，姐姐湊，所以小朋友對英文熟悉d。老師有問學校教學係用廣東話，我小朋友點適應，我同老師講返我地對小朋友嘅期望，而spc最後亦有比offer我地。

   我同意人地用乜問，你用返邊種語言答係一種禮貌。而我地亦明白大部份學校係中文為主，所以樓主可以再同小朋友講多d廣東話，佢地好叻，好快調節到，加油！

I had this problem before when my son went to PN interview before. After that I realized that it is important to make him understand Cantonese more as almost all kindergartens conduct their interviews in English. So what I did is, his current PN only speaks English and PTH. I encourage him to speak mostly in Cantonese to me. To avoid confusion I will tell him what I mean in English and then I repeat this on Cantonese again. After a few times when I feel he understand that I will only speak in Cantonese to him on that issue and encourage him to reply me back in Cantonese. He can now do both very well. He can also speak Cantonese well in interviews. It is not your fault but if you target local schools Cantonese is a must for them. Take it in this way, it is no harm for you to teach your kid another language at the same time

Well known kg in HK island normally don't count kids' response in English if the questions are in Chinese. Some interviewers would frankly tell parents that the kids' answers are incorrect according to the guideline set by the management @school.
