Hi DKHd,
Appreciated your courage to tell the truth of letting your beloved kid to attend 2 schools in a day. It is the first time I ever heard of such case and it's surprising. It is pity sure you struggled a lot before making this decision.
Personally, if your kid is able to manage it both physcially and mentally, it would be fine. However, when he promotes to upper grade, more predictable problems might arise. Some reputable kindergartens have quite a few homeworks at upper class. Even your child might be able to finish it at school, he will be exhausted after the entire school day. Will you expect him to be physically able to spend extra time in reading, talking and sharing with you at night? Do treasure the the early childhood with him and fill his childhood memories with joy and happiness, which will never come back when he grows.
Not sure the kind of international of son attending is a real one like Yew chung/ ESF, etc, or those just named itself as international school. Suggested to let him go to the International school first in the first few school years. Observe and understand his ability and character for deciding what kid of P1 will be suitable for him. It will never too late to shift back to local school at K2/K3 if he has outstadning performance in K1/K2 should you wish. In addition, nowadays many international kindergartens also balance the curriculum by having lessons like that in the local kindergarten. So no need to worry too much about that. The old Chinese saying goes, 寧缺勿濫 (Put quality before quantity).
For us parents, I think we should not only focus on his academic development but also physical and mental developments. The above are just my personal opinion and sharing.
Last but not least, do make your own decision to fit your kid's growth. All the best. |
