因我仔個屆2013學校轉制考IGCSE,佢非常upset,本來佢自信好番D,因佢香港成績唔好,唸住過去比較容易升預科及大學,現在佢仲話upset到想轉校,根本無可能,起碼中6先可以咁做,我叫佢起碼考好IGCSE先唸,而家我同老公好煩,怕佢情緒而影響到成績及各樣,所以想知IGCSE係唔係比GCSE(除了英文科)深好多,請指教！！謝謝！

轉考IGCSE巳經是大勢所趨, 連UK state schools都開始可以讀Cambridge IGCSE.

IGCSE English vs GCSE English

IGCSE English does not require coursework and controlled assessment. Just need to take a final written examination.  The new English GCSE specifications in 2012 require coursework which is prepared under supervision. GCSE English needs an oral exam.  

Both GCSE and IGCSE require you to write in a variety of different styles, for different purposes and different media.  Texts for comprehension may be more demanding  in the IGCSE. To gain the top marks in IGCSE English, accurate spelling, grammar and syntax are vital, as well as strong essay-construction skills.  These are also important in the GCSE but fewer marks depend on them.

我覺得IGCSE Maths考題對香港學生更容易.

其他科目只是考試範圍IGCSE比GCSE闊多少, 讀多少少並不表示深咗.

In the UK, IGCSE = GCSE .

is it Phy/Chem/Bio are combined into 1 subject fo IGCSE? How about Geog, Econ? are they also much more difficult than GCSE? how much % of IGCSE difficult than GCSE? Pls help!!

As far as I know, combined science is targeted for arts students which is easier than separate science subjects. Separate science subjects are targeted for science stream students.

Some top schools may not allow their sub-standard performance students to sit for separate science subjects in IGCSE/GCSE lest the results of their students' GCSE Phy/Chem/Bio exam would have adverse effect on their rankings.

After comparing the IGCSE and GCSE papers in some subjects, I don't think either board is more difficult than the other.

As far as I know, most UK schools would require their students to do and revise at least 10 years' past IGCSE/GCSE papers in every subject before allowing their students to take IGCSE/GCSE exam in Grade 11 or A level in Grade 13.

With such intense preparation together with the intense internal school assessments and exam, I think the student should have confidence to sit for the exam no matter whether it is IGCSE or GCSE.

Rather, you may think clearly whether your son would sit for a single combined science subject or separate Phy/Chem/Bio science subjects in IGCSE cos this decision may have great impact on your son's subject choice in A level and his career development.

many thx for all your opinion.  In fact my son needs to learn to encounter new challenge but he insist to say that GCSE is more easier to get higher grade than IGCSE.
