回覆 1# littleyan 的文章

全英國有百多間大學,其中有90多間可以讀law。但係都要視乎你的A-level成績和英文拿甚麼grade,才知道你可以選擇哪幾間大學。

There are many good schools but the important point is to match your kid with the schools.

In general, LSE as suggested by ANChan59, UCL, Warwick, Nottingham, Kings are quite good. Of course, we cannot ignore the two most favored by Oxbridge rejects: Bristol and Durham.

Special recommendation: York. York has a good reputation in general and its law program is new and thus easier to get into. If the grades are not good enough for the other universities I mentioned. York will be an excellent choice. Just like CUHK's law program, it has become more and more difficult to get into every year.

Some will also consider the Scottish ones.

If you want to practice law in HK, you may need to take the conversion examination and then PCLL. For conversion course will be ok from UK, but the vacancies for PCLL is limited.

If you have a choice, better stay in HK.

That's what I learnt last Saturday in my son's school -University Day. Two old boys from UK, one is from LSE and the other is from Nottingham, A kind reminder from them.

It is definitely harder for a UK graduate to qualify in HK. Coversion course, yes, but PCLL is required of everyone including local graduates. But the magic circle firms, I am afraid, still prefer to hire from bright overseas graduates. These were the actual words told to me by a senior partner of a prestigious firm. Of course she would not say this in public. Ironically, she is a HKU law graduate herself.

If not hindered by finance issues, a good UK law degree should be the choice.

My boy prefer LSE - Economics or Accounting and Finance, not the Law.

We set aside the education fund for him and he may study in HK for undergraduate, postgraduate will be overseas.
