The parent course is conducted by a private teacher, who can't be located now.
I let my son read ABC book and listen to the letterland ABC song since he was 3 or 4. Magnets of all the characters were also put on my living room, and hence he was very familiar with them. So he built up his knowledge on consonants and vowels.
I am using the old parenting guide. I've just got the Part II. I did find a teacher teaching one to one in one of the summer holiday once a week, mainly on decoding the phonemes and syllable of a word, and later on magic e for a few lessons. I taught myself on the dipthongs, mainly through reading of the Part II parenting guide to my son, and repeated practice when coming accross these sounds when reading story books, and when doing dictiation of words.
I thought the practice should be done in a more systematic way, following the sequence of vocabs making up of vowels and dipthongs. But I am too lazy to do that.
Need a lot of patience on the part of parent.
