Very true. Sometimes people take it too personal. When one says a school is good. It does not mean yours is bad. What we need is to avoid those unnecessary argument and share info in good faith.
For me, whether the school is famous is not too important. I am from a famous traditional school but what I left in my memory is revision, exams, dictations, tests, teachers only focused on students with good academics, extracurricular activities belonged to those stars in school.... So now, I hope my kids can enjoy learning, remain curious and love to explore, brave to ask questions and present her views, be given the chance to participate acitivites and enjoy them, love to read, build up confidence, aware of their uniqueness, and build up strong bonding and close/good relationship with parents. Academic result is important (at least they should attend university, right?) but should not be the top priority.
Parents' attitude is also very important. A parent in a super famous DSS school told me that peer group pressure between parents is very high. She keeps on reminding herself not to push too hard on her daughter. But she still have to struggle with her daughter on the tonnes of homework after work.
