係bb expo 買左dwe, 成5萬幾, 俾佢爸爸勁話.......聽講有3日冷靜期可以cancel張單, 唔知係咪真係可以cancel 呢? 有無mummy買左之後有d後悔, 定係真係好有用呢???

唔洗太擔心啦.. 我有個親戚買咗, 覺得好有用, 記得佢話個囡由細用到歲幾兩歲前巳經學識百幾個英文生字..

我雖然無買, 但我相信你有恆心日日比佢聽, 玩, 睇跟個SCHEDULE 應該唔會白廢嘅.

我好相信套嘢係得既,反而你要考慮既係你會唔會有恒心日日跟足佢既指示做囉,e個先至係大問題,小朋友係被動既,你比佢咪聽囉,你唔比佢唔通佢自己攞嚟聽咩,你自己有冇信心可以先,再諗啦! 我有朋友買咗4萬幾,但係用咗半年已經冇恒心日日做啦,之後去又同個仔去吓玩,一時又要學e樣,一時又學果樣,結果又係放係度,所以你要先諗咗你自己先啦.

我妹妹試過真係可以cancel ,5萬幾真係好貴,有d家庭幾個月糧啦

Mabby唔好介意...如果媽媽有恒心日日自己教,小朋友兩歲前一樣可以識百幾個英文生字..加埋中文同數字都得...

我寧願留番d$比佢大個讀公文英,5萬幾,讀到8年,回報一定高過依家

I agree with you. It's too expensive (not worth).

For English Learning:
I buy "Magic English", "Mr. Men & Little Miss", "The wheels on the Bus", "BBC English Show" and "Thomas & Friends" for my son. Besides, he plays many TV (V-tech learning system) and computer learning games. He also likes "story reader". In addition, I let him to join bilingual kindergarten (1 NET as class mistress). Now he is 4 years old and he is good in English (both speaking and reading).

Sorry but I just think your thinking may be wrong in some way.

I bought the whole set for my girl since she was 1. Of course, I did follow the schedule as much as I could and I really spent lots of time reading/listening/watching with her.

Then I found her english standard is so high, like she can read at the age of 2. I still remember when I took her to an Int'l playgroup in Kln Tong, the native eng teacher was so surprised of her eng standard. Until now, her eng is still few grades ahead of same age kids. She is studying at Int'l school and her reading level is even higher than native kids.

Is she a gifted child? May be. But I am sure the Disney set really helps a lots. I try again to my younger son (he is 2 now), and it works on him exactly same as my daughter. The only difference is that my son does not speak well but he does understand lots.

My husband also was upset when he knew I bought the set at $5xxxx. However, now he thanks me for giving our kids a gift that would be useful for their whole life.

$5xxxx, of course is really expensive. However, if u divided it into 4 years, it is only $1xxx/month, it is cheaper than hiring an english private teacher ($250/hr, 3 hrs/week=3000 / month) but definately more powerful.

The golden period for a kid to learn a foreign language is before the age of 6. And I don't understand why you have to wait until your kid grown up, then pay the same amount of $ to teach her at a later age. You are just delaying her learning. My girl never need to go to Kumon class because at the age of 3, I took her there and the teacher said her level is at local P4. So i don't need to spend money for Kumon but spent for a system at earlier stage, what's the difference? (in terms of money spending) But the result is really never the same.

Sorry you may not agree with me but I really feel sad for your kid (and your sister's).

You will see the differences someday in the future from a kid learing english before 6 and after 6.

By the way, you can settle the payment by installment. As what I said, just think of paying to an english class monthly of $1xxx, it is worth to do so.

The only concern is that there are many new systems coming up: english time/noddy...etc. You have to choose a set that fits your kid.

一點都沒有後悔, 因我英文不好尤其是發音, 小女由兩歲開始用, 到佢四歲已取得畢業証書, 另佢在剛剛五歲時去考 Cambridge - Starters(一般要七歲考) 在speaking 及 Listening 取得 full mark成績, 她沒有參加或報讀任何Cambridge課程的我就比佢考試, 當時只是嘗試的心態比佢考, 我一向用廣東話同佢溝通, 另我要返工沒有時間陪佢用DWE, 她由幼稚園至小學, 老師都說她的英文說得很好和發音很清楚. 因我怕她學了我的發音, 所以我很少教佢讀英文, 主要是佢自己聽DWE. 另爸爸都好讚成買, 所以沒有異議. 有一次佢幫表哥(大佢兩歲)讀英文默書, 表哥話佢好似外國人讀英文.

親戚為了個女都買了一套, 用左3/4萬蚊,兩公婆係專業人士,屋企用菲律賓工人, 讀九龍塘st catherine, 甘佢個女d英文, 我又唔覺好好,只係比一般小朋友好, 更唔好講,可以講到好似外國人甘啦!
佢亞媽都好有心機用套教材架!
如果想小朋友英文好正宗, 不如送佢去國際幼稚園(英基....) 讀1年好過啦! 我個女 (3才) 比佢都唔睇! 一開world family就走啦, 套野太舊啦!佢無興趣!我就甘開左個nowtv, 比d 英文節目, 亞女睇到好開心!
or 搵個外籍老師番屋企教,效果更好.

這全是個人意見:

其實為什麼我不會跟囡囡在聽或看教材時一齊讀英文或唱歌, 是因為我覺得比佢由小開始聽一種英文(不論英語或美語), 因為每個人的發音都有些不同, 我等佢聽慣一種的英語, 如果同時我又教讀音, 佢又聽教材的音, 佢會聽出兩種不同的發音. 其實好多時媽咪都會一路聽一路唱給BB或小朋友聽, 可能小朋友會發覺有D音不同, 當小朋友再自己讀音與教材會有出入. 尤其是某一些英文字: Z, X, S, H, ... etc. 現在囡囡已習慣了說的英文音, 所以就不怕同佢講英文. 因佢已不會學了我的發音, 如有新生字, 在學校佢會聽到老師的發音, 再看自己本書再拼音讀出來, 有些生字好我讀了個音佢識聽就明白解釋.

如果第一位老師教BB或小朋友說英文的, 連老師都說得不太標準, 是問BB或小朋友甚會學得好. 又或者已學了不正確的發音, 日後是很難改的, 好似我學的英語已成習慣改不了的.

其次囡囡學會到唔怕講英文, 而我都有時會怕講英文.

P.S. 另現在外面已很多很好的教材, 只要你已選了你自己應為好的教材就好了.

我諗有心唔怕遲, 遲好過冇. 你個小朋友專注力夠唔夠? 我都啱啱買咗, 我個 bb 5 個月大左右, 個 consultant 話趁 bb 未識爬同行之前, 仲會坐定定的時候, 俾佢用多 d 讀咭機, 等佢認多 d 字. 到咗佢識爬識走的時候, 佢就冇咁多耐性坐定定睇住部機. 我都問個 consultant 咁如果喺小朋友比較大的時候先買, 效果係咪冇咁好? 佢就話咁的話, 家長就會辛苦 d 囉, 因為要花更多時間同心機, 去鼓勵同引導小朋友學嘢.

不過話時話, 其實成套迪士尼除咗咭機之外, 仲有好多嘢. bb 仲細的時候有好多嘢都未用得著, 相反, 如果小朋友已夠大, 能夠掌握自己手腳協調, 又會明白 DVD 故事, 其實都係有用架. 成為家長, 先理解成套教材的內容, 以及喺不同的階段點樣同個小朋友學習, 係好重要架. 就算唔買迪士尼, 坊間仲有好多其他教材, 甚至自己製造學習環境俾小朋友, 一樣可以架! 只要俾心機同時間, 小朋友自然會有所得益.
