Hi gigi2,

We had our first training session on Sat and the ST said our girl's performance was excellent for the first session.  She didn't cry at all like some other children and actively participated in all exercises.  She even continued to "talk" to the ST when the ST was explaining to me how we should train her and what to do at home.  So far our girl knows more about nouns than verbs.  So the ST asks us to strengthen her vocabularies in this area.  In order to encourage her to form short sentences, we should always call one's name before a verb. E.g. Mary drinks.  Papa goes.  Mama draws.  Peter sleeps.  By calling her name before giving her instructions, we would also get her attention to make the training easier and more effective.

We were very happy yesterday that when we were talking on the phone with my husband, I asked her to say "Bye bye Papa".  She would always say either Bye bye or Papa but never the 2 words together.  Yesterday after I had said it loud for several times, she followed and said"Bye bye Papa".  We were all very happy.  The last time she said these 2-word sentences were weeks ago when she said "Ma go" and "apa sit".

The ST recommended therapies once per week.  We have arranged for other private therapies near our home which are every 2 weeks to begin in May.  We will try both to see who works better with our girl.

Hi Windy,

As you may know from my previous posting, the 1hr $400 ST session is arranged by the social worker of the HK Christian Service.  The social worker is Mrs. Liu and her no. is 2731 6734.  The ST they arranged for me used to work for them for long years before start her own private practice.  Probably because of their long relationship, they can get this relatively cheap price.

Just call Mrs. Liu to check it out.  I remember they would require us to conduct a speech assessment first before contracting their private ST services.

Hope this will help.

BTW, I am also using Janet Ng, the same one that gigi2 uses. Both are good but different styles.

真係好LA，大家比咁多資料出嚟等我地D家長睇下邊個Private therapist 最平最好。之前我透過BK聯絡咗幾個therapist，包括OT 同 ST。但曾經見到三位members互話大家做生意，我都唔敢講咁多。我個仔而家喺政府做，好平，但一個月先一次。我都考慮揾私人。雖然我心目中都有選擇，但如果有"荀"野記住PM我喎。

Could you please PM to me your list as well. My 18 months son visited the M.C.H. Center this Tuesday and the dr. suspects that my son has language delay and poor verbal comprehension. I don't want to wait for CAC and would like to start the theropy as soon as possible.

I forgot that the formal charge is $400 per 1/2 hour or not as everytime we are in the room for 1 hour (training + comments / discussion from parents and Janet).

Janet Ng/Widex charges $400 for 1 hr speech assessment, and charges $400 for 1/2 hr speech therapy.  But they are not very rigid and Janet usually spends some more time discussing with the parents if there is time.

Janet Ng has left WidexHK and now there is another ST called Jess Chan  was there. Janet said Jess was her classmate in U.
She was also quite experience. Everytime she would do the sessions more than 30 minutes, (or more than 45 mins) to explain and disucss some child's behaviours, without extra charges.
She is quite good, I felt. You can try try.
