Dear all mommy,

I highly recommend kids to learn JMC.  My daughter is now studying this class for 8 months and is now learning in the middle of book 2.  而家我個女聽音和chord都好準, 而且連我都可以一齊學埋, 個course真係好好, 因為我自己都有grade 5 piano程度, 以前考aural test 時, 我都聽到好幸苦., 但係而家我都聽到drmfs, 同兩個chords 啦, 我自己都好開心, 以前我個piano teacher在國內好出名, 佢都係要我唱住drmfs嚟彈琴, 所以我揾音樂class比個女都一定要教so-fa name先至會比個女學, 我當時揾咗好耐, 因為我唔知tom lee係教聽音準, 後來同個女個同學個家長頃計先至知道tom lee係教so-fa name (不過佢個女就無學, 因為佢話唔係學彈piano, 所以唔學) 但係我就即刻去報, 好彩當時有一個家長話唔讀, 咁我個女就即刻補上, 都唔駛waiting, 真係好彩, 多謝主, 以前我重未有仔女, 我個老師同我講過聽音係要細個學先至會容易聽到, 年紀越大越難聽到音準, 唔係一定唔得, 不過難D, 所以我會比個女一路學上去, 除非佢唔鐘意同抗拒, 但係而家佢都好鐘意, 希望到book 3時佢唔會唔鐘意啦, 因為有D人話會好難喎.  我講咁多嘢, 唔係同tom lee賣廣告, 而係希望各mommy唔好貪怏, 諗住要個小朋友一兩年就要佢考到幾多級, 唔係咁樣咖, 彈琴可以苦practice, 但係聽音就唔得, 比個小朋友試吓啦, 雖然唔會即時見到個成效, 但係將來你一定唔會後悔比個女讀呢個class.

Dear Dedemom,

I quite agree with you.  My daughter is now in 3/4 of JMC, but I am facing a difficulty that my daughter is not good at listening chords.  When she was in MW and the 1st half of JMC, it was not me to accompany her to lesson, so I did not know she has been farly left behind in this part...

I don't know how to catch up with this in this short period of time.  I agree with you that playing piano is the easy part, listening chords is the hard one.  Although I have some basic piano background (4th grade only), I also find listening chords very hard.  Do you or anyone have any idea how to catch this up....

Hi Lemon & Dedemom,

Then would you find a private teacher for piano later?  What's the advantage with/without joining the MW or JMC?

I'm still waiting for MW.  They said that I should wait until this Sept/Oct.  By that time my son would be 3 years old.

That's why we attend the IEC in HK Children's Choir and a kindermusik class every week.

我囝囝上 上mw時後期覺得悶, 有時老師對小兒的提問又很少理會, 也曾想轉, 但又覺得個course 內容可配合幼兒的發育進度, 如手, 耳朵的發展,
現在上 jmc book 1, 非常高興,回家聽歌, 看dvd看得不亦樂乎, 又主動唱歌, 很安慰

基本上如果你堅持要試都是沒問題的, 因為老師如果知個工人唔識聽, 都會用英文講比佢地聽, 但只限於重要的通告, 教緊邊首SONG咁, 同埋功課. 但我個人就唔係太認同呢個安排, 其實佢係一個親子互動的COURSE, 你指意個工人, 個小朋友學過咩有時只能靠個小朋友講, 但一堂裡面都有好多個部份, 有彈琴, 有唱歌, 有聽音, 有做動作加唱歌, 有時又有樂器分享與介紹, 小朋友邊樹記到咁多, 而個工人仲要唔識聽, 好似晒咗, 你又唔知個小朋友係堂上的進度同領吾咗幾多. 我小朋友已經讀到BOOK 4, 一路都係由我帶, 令願每個月交多百幾蚊都要選WEEKEND 上, 結果都無選錯. 因為眼見好多由姐姐帶的小朋友上上吓都無返, 因為只靠小朋友, 真係吸收有限, 你一定要從旁協助同鼓勵. D姐姐好多時都只係坐係度, 有D仲一齊坐埋(前後位)細聲講細聲笑, 都無心機聽個老師講乜. 所以我認為如果你話一堂半堂就無所謂,  如果長期都係咁, 就無謂浪費$$, 選第二種形式的MUSIC COURSE 好過.

Hello!! 我個仔上完兩年IEC，再上埋JMC。
係IEC, 呀仔學唱歌，跳舞，打拍子，玩樂器，表演，禮儀。
諗住上完IEC，大D機會JOIN HKCHOIR。但係唔得。
係JMC, 呀仔學會聽音音，彈琴但須要努力練習，呀仔好乖，每星期練習３次，１５分鐘至一個鐘都有。而家已然畢業，準備上JXC, 呀仔話好想再上。

我諗呀仔得到不少音樂知識，技能和滿足感，因他學校老師都話他音樂感好好，幫手表現打鼓添。我好滿意JMC。

我會試下比MW個女，因只有一年，平d。會再上埋JMC。

You finish the IEC for 2 yrs?!      Not an easy job!  Why you don't consider the children's choir?

我仔仔而家2.5yr 都排緊佢地既音樂班,但係佢地而家條隊已經好長,話未必可以比佢排得到讀果個音樂班啦!

You mean MW? Which location?  Oh, maybe I need to call and ask them about this?  I applied it in last June and it seemed that Tom Lee would arrange for the course for me! (from the reply of the receptionist when I handed in the form)

I have the same experience.  My daughter was not brought to class by maid in the past, but by my sister-in-law, of course she can understand Cantonese.  However, the result is not satisfactory.  All you can expect from her is to escort my daughter, but she does not care about what she has learnt.  However, MW and JMC do need practise at home after class, so the child's progress will not be good if he / she does not practise at home.

Now, I try to take my daughter to class by myself, my girl has shown a great improvement, but still has a lot of room to catch up....

Parent is Parent.  It is different.

我想問下讀過/讀緊/已報名通利(TL)的媽咪，有沒有考慮過柏斯(PS)呢?最後點解揀通利?

經初步了解， TL同PS都有類似的親子音樂啟蒙班。PS可由age2.5 開始(2期，約1年完成)，TL由age 3開始(9個月)。

1.收費--兩者差不多，TL貴少少，但PS要一次過比一期(即近3000元)。
2. 人數--TL每次12pairs，但PS個職員話每堂最多5 pairs。
3. 上堂時間--TL只有45分鐘，PS就1小時。
4. 課程內容同師資--???我估差不多啩...
4. 課程連貫性--TL上完MW可以JMC，如果小朋友ok，又可再上JXC，但PS就只有一個音樂啟蒙班(Music for little Mozarts Foundations)，之後可join親子鋼琴班之類。

當然，我的理解是TL是相對受歡迎的(要排咁耐就知佢幾HIT，但我又好buyPS每班人數少D，老師同學生，以致家長的交流咪應該多D囉。

大家可否發表一下。
