不過ESF係non selective school, 收生spectrum 好濶，而且英 ...

non selective --- 以我所知唔容易入。。。


英國學生和香港學生target ---- 請問 target 指什麼? 家長們（不論英國還是香港）選校第一標準應該都係睇大學派位吧

英國大學要照顧返當地學生，如 Oxford Ugrad 有68%來自英國 state school ...

正常啊，全世界嘅大學都係先照顧本地，本國籍學生。
香港好多人有英國國籍。既然英國頂級中學派位好，毫無疑問，英國頂級中學當中一定都有英國籍香港人。

入場費：
如果十幾萬嘅 ESF 冇得同 幾十萬嘅 Westminster 比
點解十幾萬嘅 ESF 宜家又同免費嘅 Maryknoll 比？
唔好講國際學校，免費中學同直資中學之間嘅入場費鴻溝都已經好大，咪一樣被人比較


所以我認為大學派位就係最客觀嘅比較標準。。冇咩唔可以比較

其實比較係冇咩意思嘅多人入Oxbridge Ivy 係因為間學校吸引到呢個質地同有呢個目標同財力嘅學生
當然學習氛圍同共同目標都好影響
一個質地好嘅學生，去到公立學校都一樣可以入到名大
我有個剛畢業嘅表親就係，美國嘅山旮旯公立學校全額奬學金入Ivy，屋企冇乜$嘅
佢話其實中學好多叻嘅同學，不過佢哋根本冇諗過要離開個state 讀書

絕對同意marynroll 係好好既學校, 不過有時免費嘅嘢係最貴㗎，小朋友可以瘋狂玩嘅時間，屋企人嘅和諧，假日出去嘅活動，，呢啲會係讀marynroll 既opportunity cost。

小學難入因為多人申請，無要求學術，能聽英文指示已可。

As ex Maryknoller, I think the school is not super stressful like some others eg DGS, Heep Yan, Good Hope.It nurtures well mannered young ladies, academic is not key parameter at  least in primary school.

I’d say it’s a great primary school in general. I just wouldn’t go for secondary as it does get quite intense. Apart from college admission and academics, as parent I value all rounded personality and character.

If you have MCS primary offer, go for it!

兩個不同制度，我個人就會選個制度，即ESF, 孩子可以好好享受小學學習階段，上到中學，任何學制也要努力付出，最终去什麼大學讀什麼科，上到中學再睇情況考慮。

今時今日，IS 也有好谷的家長。

i agree to compare the university placement to decide. if ur kid can't go to a decent uni (not the top one, but can't be a bad one), not matter how happy your kid's school life is, how good the school facilities are, i would not choose that school.

of course, esf is non selective. if u apply in year 12, of course they would consider ur gcse result. but if your kid starts in year 1 or in kindergarten, its unlikely that they would kick you out because of poor academic result. u see the IB result of the school, some kids only go below 30, or even 25 points out of 45. but the average result is still 38 to 39. its really impressive. it means a lot of kids can still get high mark, just make sure ur kid wont go to the bottom. when you compare with the top boarding schools in uk (which u need to pay $400,000 per year), they are highly selective, with a lot of tests before u get in, but the IB result is just slightly higher than esf.

but of course, not a lot of school in uk take ib, many take A-level. how to compare a-level with ib result? university knows better than us. i never compare the Oxbridge rate. even the top boarding schools, only a handful of kids go to Oxbridge. but if u see the rate to go to rusell group uni (the top 24 uni in uk), esf is not bad (shatin college has around 60% kids to rusell group). its worse than the top boarding school but already much better than state school in uk. so i never agree that state schools in uk are like international schools in hk, in terms of academic result and uni placement.

The comment mainly in response to post author’s situation, just to clarify

Provided you could afford the fees, with reasonable academic results, it's not difficult to get into a decent  UK university - you certainly don't have to undergo 12 years of intense LS education to get there if that's not your thing (I'm not saying that's the case of Maryknoll, just in general). So don't stress about university placement for primary school selection.
It all boils down to language preference, whether you're ok with switching half way through (say senior years of primary), and financial situation.  

I've studied in three secondary school myself (with 2 in the UK). At the time I made the call to switch to a more competitive school for A-levels for a broader curriculum, more challenging peers and improved chances of top university.

Chances are your girl will take her future in her own hands sooner or later. As parents, work on the finance side with a long-term view, but you are just not going to map out your child's academic future. Just make a decision that you're comfortable with for time being and adjust along the way!

你提供的資訊並非普遍情況，大概只係個別少數人／家庭的問題。

我地最後決定了去ESF. 各位的意見也很好。 我有感自己比心機返工交學費或者易過不停催促她學習，我地都怕影響到親子關係。

IS 始終係小數，但係如果marynroll, 預左要花時間溫書做功課，升中大概6-7成，一定要kee ...

你嘅資訊太唔 update 了 mcs 一向唔止收 6-7 成咁少，以前人多都至少收到75-80%，仲未計之後叩返

近幾年基本上收哂，每班得大約 1 -2個收唔返 (我女個班 1 個，隔離班都係)

至於補習費用真係因人而異，我女小五疫情後先開始補，同好多同學一樣去九龍城某一間 ，一科先$1000一個月... 入到去基本上大部分都係mcs 學生 ，大家都係主要補中數兩科

你講你朋友七千蚊一個月應該係另一間功課班＋溫習

我都同意讀is 肯定輕鬆好多， 有同學都轉去國際學校， 但冇你形容得咁多，都係非常少部份

我小朋友在IS, 眼見真係所有IS小朋友都好鐘意返學，打風都好唔開心，之前都好想返全日，又好enjoy ECA, 好鐘意老師和同學好似一家人咁，真正享受返學。
反而見LS，無論邊間就算話幾happy, 都成日聽到有小朋友話唔想返學呀，停課自學仲好呀，家長又話支持返半日更好呀，大家有幾享受返學可想而之。
剩係呢樣我覺得巳值回票價，好似返工咁，如果有份工係自己好享受返，有好老細和好同事，係幾幸福的事。

係呀，國際學校唔同「當地學校」, 其實英國也有”International School” 多數係行IB的私校day school, 也有美制，法國課程，主要target 倫敦的Expats，culture mix會diverse d.
外地本身的免費學校質素可以好參差，好學校都要跟校網，英國一樣好多人Y4/5巳開始操11+入Grammar School，就算唔入，始終都無人想入差個D中學校風隨時差過香港最差的band 3。
其實無論英美澳加，有要求個班家長好多都會讀私校，資源會更多，當年Michelle Obama母親為供佢讀私校都專登要去打兩份工。

一早報左名的，如果之前入唔到大約到高小時都入到。除了熱門學校。

如果你高小才報名（如esf)應該只有機會入非熱門學校。

esf 無咩其他收費，校服/校車/lunch. 小學無話要買書
