What does "special afternoon class at K3 (=local K2)" mean? Is it K2 or P1 under the British system?

they hv ONE special afternoon class at K3 (=local K2) with only 14 kids.  My daughter was in that class and it was amazing.

Since my girl is a small b, she was not eligible for the KCS nursery application last year. She applied both KCS K1 & KCIS this year too.

In fact, I am still struggling to let her take the international or local stream, so I guess I will try out most of the workable possibilities for her first and think only when we got the offer.

I think kcs k1 interview will be held in dec, right?  The pn interview is taking place at end of this month.  I really don't have a good feeling about it.  My son is fine in group play and story telling setting; but when facing the teacher one-on-one he simply refuses to open his mouth and he even tells the teacher "no" when she tries to take away his toys.  

Anyway good luck to you on all the upcoming interviews.

總之係swck最後一年幼稚園, 佢個班係ua3, 會收d special need  小朋友,  如autism,我個女個班有兩三個, 亦因為咁, 人數會比其他班少. 一星期有一次會有一個心理學家同小朋友玩遊戲, 整體來講curriculum差唔多, 但會有多d games.  個陣時我個女有個同學, 佢媽咪話佢個大女以前都係讀呢班, 細女(我阿女同學)特登唔返上午班, 要返呢班, 因為佢覺得呢班比小朋友嘅attention 同training多d. (佢嘅小朋友都係正常小朋友)

我個女而家返緊uk3, 即係 year 1, 明年開新小學就直上year2, 琴日老師同小朋友一齊種蕃茄,小太陽花同好幾樣其他野,因佢地學緊 i am alive.

SWCK 後你打算比小朋友讀咩小學? I really want my son to be completely fluent in both spoken and written Chinese but there aren't many choices.

我會睇下係我女k3時,
我既財政係點先
如果ok, 我想佢繼續讀is
但老公就想轉返讀local
因為我地要供亞女讀is, 到中學時, 就未必可以一年去一次旅行
而普遍讀is既小朋友屋企都比較有錢
佢唔想亞女唔開心,自己屋企好似好窮咁
(老公同事2個女讀esf, 到中學好明顯會分到自己屋企冇咩錢)

如果你仲未決定將來囡囡讀 IS 或 LS,
恕我直接講, 咁 SWCK 會唔會不太合適呢,
因為 SWCK 基本上只教英文,
雖然都有普通話堂,不過真的好有限,
但係普通話老師經常會同小朋友講英文,
因為有好多小朋友真係完全唔明....
寫/認中文字, K1 時完全係冇的....
K2或以上我就唔知了....
所以如果只你在 SWCK 讀書, 我個人覺得小朋友將來如果轉番讀 LS 會好辛苦~

其實, 我地係已預左錢俾我女出國讀大學
如果冇咩意外
讀is上都係夠錢
但就係怕, 我地唔係太有錢
又冇車
怕亞女上左中學後會唔開心
因為上左中學後就開始識比較了....

Even for LS, there is a very obvious separation between kids from well off families and kids from normal families.so I guess your concern will exist no matter which path you choose.....

Hi all,

I'm an ex-SWCK mom (son just got into P1) and I'd like to share my 2 cents regarding am/pm classes at SWCK.  My son had attended both sessions, PM for K1 class and AM for K2/3 classes.  Imho, PM classes would probably be even better for younder kids (eg. K1), cos the class sizes are usually smaller so each kid will get more attention and less distraction from others.  Also, travelling time poses an advantage too, cos for us, school bus comes at around 12.30 when we were in the PM class for 1pm, but when my son had to attend the AM class for 9, he has to leave home at 8.05am.  I suspect return trip will be about the same, since it's not rush hour traffic for either session.  In winter, the kids might have an easier time getting up for PM classes, plus the playground time would be a lot warmer for them too (have to say it is indeed rather cold in Borrett Road in winter).  So unless you have other classes and activities planned in the afternoons, PM might not be a bad choice afterall!!
