Perhaps I should rather say "a relatively more fair selection process" in which there is a mechanism with preset assessment tools that are utilized by all schools. This is more fair than impression marking of the headmaster who, I suppose as most human beings, inclines to consider students' family background.
I don't belong to the elite minority. As one of the mediocre majority, I prefer to a system that offsets the effect of family background and runs solely for the sake of the students, not the schools.

我諗間間名校都數到一大堆出名的名人係勁過以上的多多聲.
以上我比較同意的只有李國能一人是出色的leader.其餘的...就算知佢 係邊位都唔覺佢有幾叻,for example,李X章,譚X珠等,果兩位李生的成就就只要多謝父蔭勒.
你得閒就數下 St. Joseph's,Wah Yan, DGS, DBS ,QC的出品你就明我講D咩.

補充一句,我唔係話SPCC唔叻,不過 係咪top成咁就真係見仁見智

拔萃男校，上周六慶祝了它的一百三十五歲生日。

昔日在校園跑跑跳跳，被校長「蝦餃佬」（S.J. Lowcock）打過屁股，或被捧作風頭躉的一班黃毛小子，包括九鐵主席田北辰、民政事務局局長何志平、立法會議員張宇人、著名歌星林子祥等，今天已在社會綻放光芒。

他們在拔萃，成績不一定標青，但或透過一雙飛毛腿、一個乒乓球、一把小提琴，一張嘴，肯定自我，從而打造屬於自己的一片天。

拔萃鼓勵學生發揮自我、爭第一、甚至「隻揪」，結果令它盛產「歡喜冤家」，包括「不算深交」的田北辰和楊啟彥，港大民調風波兩名主角鍾庭耀和鄭耀宗等，令拔萃成為風格獨特的名校。

張灼祥

無「籐」校長

既是拔萃校長，又是學校舊生，張灼祥對學校一切，瞭如指掌。「學校最經典是校長打籐。不少拔萃生都被打過屁股，打到飛起。」有一年，英美煙草公司老闆何伯的孫何定國考入拔萃，豈料成為班中打籐冠軍，幾乎每星期都被校長打屁股。

張灼祥五年前當上拔萃校長，但香港已禁止體罰學生，他沒機會揮動「校長的籐條」，而校內最後一支籐條，亦於四年前拍賣掉，籌得的錢，已用來重建學校音樂廳。「籐條是一名舊生買下，說要回味以前被校長打籐的日子。」

張灼祥從沒被校長打籐，因他是u乖乖仔」。他讀中四和中五時，跟歌星林子祥同班，兩人都不愛講話，同班兩年，講話不超過十句。

不愛參加舞會，又不是運動健將，但張灼祥的強項，是唱歌，中四時，他經常到拔萃女校及協恩中學獻唱。「每次唱完，女同學都招呼我們吃曲奇餅、飲熱茶。我們一班男仔受寵若驚。」

拔萃英文了得，但中文都不弱，張灼祥歸功於中文老師，其中一位是聞一多在西南聯大的學生張清湘。「老師教我們寫中文，不要立刻下筆，要想清楚怎樣寫，或起了草稿，第二次才真正寫。到現在我寫中文，都經常記

I graduated from Marymount 1X years ago.  My girl is currently in K2 and I am considering is it a good primary school for her.  Besides, is it a must the school will take my child in first priority?  How about DGS?  Which is better?

I have a lot of experience of those graduates from top schools during my U life; DG girls are outstanding, those from SPCC  humble and quite good, DBS was not so good, LS students are active but lazy...Wah Yan ( Kowloon ) is very good and better than Wah Yan (HK)..

So what is your choice between SPCC and DXS?

Choice depended on the your expectation on academic or personality development;
DGS is better in acedemic, less in personality issue.
I still think the best way is to go for ordinary primary school first and enter DGS/SPCC in later stage, if possible.
