Re: 沙田培僑書院 vs 真道書院
Pls see the Q&As extracted from the school web-site :
What is the medium of instruction in Primary and Secondary School? Would there be any native speaking teachers involved in teaching English and Putonghua?
A In Secondary school, English is used as the medium of instruction for most subjects.
Instruction is conducted in English and Putonghua in Primary School. In Primary School, we plan to have the equivalent of two mornings of solid English integrating the learning of the language with general knowledge. More than half of our teachers will be native speakers and the others would be fluent speakers of English; and all communications during these lessons (including students’ informal discourse) would take place in English. The lessons in the other 3 mornings would take place using Putonghua. In the initial stage, in order to help acclimatize and orient the students, Cantonese will be used. Putonghua would be introduced gradually and will be used once the students are ready.
Q What is the time table for the class: i.e. the starting time in the morning and the finishing time of the class in the afternoon?
A Tentatively, morning lessons will start at 8:30 am and end at 12:30 pm. The lessons are mainly the more academic subjects – equivalent to English, Chinese, Mathematics and General Studies in other schools. The afternoon school session will be from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. In a week, there will be about 2 afternoons involving sports and games, 1 afternoon studying Art, 1 afternoon studying Music and 1 afternoon with social activities, visits and social service. At the senior primary and secondary classes, we plan to have after-school independent study periods in school in order to train students to work independently.
