會否是因為, 用完DWE的小朋友已識很多英文, 因而相對地, 他們用的教材會好難就呀?
好多人話DWE的確會令小朋友聽, 講方面有明顯的成果, 但寫讀方面就唔好.

我聽講3歲前睇dwe, 之後大d就要睇english time. 我見english time d material又真係要大d睇會好d既. 不過我都諗緊好唔好買english time

只要比到個環境個細路............唔一定係要DWE的....都可以識到好多英文....而且太細個睇得多電視都係唔好的,所以有明顯的成果唔係套野...係比到佢接觸英文啫

Dr. Chiu's point is to emphasize mother language (Chinese) as the only language at early education eg before 3 to 4 yrs old.  Learning English as a second language should not be started so early because this will interferre the language development of the kid, they may get confused.  I consulted a Speech Therapist Friend.  She agrees Dr. Chiu's point, Multi-language environment is good to a baby but only if very clearly defined environment can be provided.  Say if a child's mother is a Chinese, she speaks to her child in Cantonese only -- a Cantonese environment.  And the child's father is a foreigner, he could only speak English then a good English environment could be achieved.  
Dr. Chiu doubt the effect of DWE -- whether it could build such environment or not.  Otherwise, only Mother language at early stage is recommended.

Of course, parents have the right to choose which teaching tools best fit your child.  If anyone want to know more about Dr. Chiu's concept, you may consult teachers or principals from any branch of "Creative Kindergarten".

其實,不就是沒有雙語環境, 我們才要給孩子製造這機會嗎?
當然, 家長不是只買教材給孩子聽同睇而自己什麼都不做啦.
常聽人說用DWE會使孩子只會看電視.  我個人認為只是誤解吧.  已自己的經驗, 囝囝只有兩歲多, 但他比很多小孩更愛看書.  不只是dwe裡的書,  而是學校或圖書館裡的故事書, 更會看兒童百科全書.  很多人even已買了dwe的家長會著重哪set dvd, 其實, 精髓是在哪數十隻不顯眼的cd同課本.  我同daddy在最初一年, 好努力咁每日同佢聽progame和玩書內的遊戲, 只是半個鐘吧, 日積月累, 而家, 不用我們陪佢, 他都會自已go through.
我認為, 孩子在最早的階段, 給他一個機會, 沒有太大的壞影響, 我承認在他歲半的時候, 語言發展是比較慢, 但當他兩歲時, 他已可以掌握到中文(我指廣東話)同英文的對答方法, 什至比一些讀國際幼稚園的小朋友還講和明白得多 (上英語playgroup時).  
所以, 可否build up一個外語環境, 是在乎家長的恆心, 而不在於用不用dwe.

My girl didn't watch dvd for long time (more than a year), the most important and most treasure is the TWELVE BOOKS + 數十隻不顯眼的cd, my girl can answer most question of cd.  She can listen, she can understand, she can answer, she can speak it out loudly, she can follow, they are inter-active.

Chumamma,

If you ask Dr.Chiu directly, she will tell you to stop it until your kid is 6 yrs old.  Its what I heard in her speech.

Anyway, repeat again, parents have the right to choose what is good for your child.  That's it.
