when the new school term starts, is there any time allowed for P1 students to warm up? how early would dictation start for P1 students?

are Chinese lessons conducted in Mandarin at the very begining? if my son can't understand Mandarin properly, is there a need for me to place him in some sort of intensive Mandarin courses now?

thank you.

Hi,

I remember there is few weeks for P.1 students
to warm up.  No dictation at these period.

Now P. 3 , P. 2 & P 1  Chinese lessons conducted in
Mandarin.  As my sons are above these grades so not
sure about these.  Hope others P.3 or below parents
can help to answer this.

But if your son has time, it is good to learn Mandarin
courses.   As this can train him up Chinese composition
and sentences construction.

Hi Norakyng
thanks for your information.  May I ask you one more question? You mentioned that there are totally 6-8 pieces of homework every day, how long does it take for your boy to finish it?  The school ends at 3.20pm, by the time he comes back home it's already 4pm, would it be very harsh for him to finish so many pieces of home work? I'm just afraid that he'll burn out.  Besides, I am afraid that he can't join any extracurricular activities during weekdays given som many homework.  is that true?

Hi,

About 1 - 2 hours can finish all homework.
Homework content is not too much.  If you son
can concentrate to do homework, 1 hour is enough.

My son likes to finish homework in school during
lunch time.

If he can finish half of homework in school (as has
good atmosphere to do homework).  Your
son still have time to join extracurricular activities
during weekdays.

Don't worry, homework quantity is much, but content
is not so hard & heavy.

Hi Tkomother,

You are welcome !

1.  Primary principal said 1/3 % band 1, but I think should
     be more.

2.  Teachers care about students,  not too much
calls from teacher.   But if parents call them and
     they will return call soon.

3.  Not too much competition as only have rank
from 1 to 10 in exam from primary 1 to 4.

Also no elite class and not so many competition
     among students.

4.  Most of teachers have taught for long time and
I believe they know how to handle big class.

Also most of students have good background
and good support from families,  they are clean,
good and polite from my personal of view.

Cheers

Hi Norakyng,

Thank you very very much for your kind explaination!!

If the principal is telling about 1/3% band 1 student, while there are more than 50% student getting to the secondary school...it means their secondary school is not the band 1.  Am I correct?  Actually, I don't know really the banding distribution.  And how can EMB classify HK school students...

Really sorry for so much questions.  My son was admitted quite late in July and I had missed all the TALK about school, if any.

Best Regards,
TKOmother

Hi Tkomother,

My son was admitted P1 this year too.  and I also lived in TKO.  The reason I choose Raimondi was due to its location:  Wan Chai was good for boy coz it has many Band 1 Secondary schools.

There was a fun fun day held in early July to let new student meet the form teacher and their classmates.  There will be one more called "Parents Day" in 25 August to let parent meet the form teacher or so.

Hope our son will have happy Primary life in Raimondi.

Hi Little Tin Che,

It is very nice to have parents living in TKO area.  Are you going to take their school bus ?

How do you arrange the transportation for him?

I missed the activities and will try to call school for the August 25 information.

Hope to see you in one day...

Hi Tkomother,

I lived next to TKO station.  I will take my son to Wan Chai MTR station and catch the school bus at around 7:55 am.  That means I must leave home around 7:20 am.  My maid will pick him up at around 3:50 pm after school.

This is the most convenient and easy way, I think.  For those nanny van, the drivers contacted me before and are saying that TKO area going to Central must get on the van before 7:00 am.  I don't want my boy travelling so long.  See whether you have further info on the routing and we can join together.

Little Tin Che.

Hi Little Tin Che,

I am living in Tiu King Leng station.  And one of the nanny bus can pick up at 7:10 -7:15 am.

But arrival Tiu King Leng around 4:45pm.

I think it is better when I do comparison of the time of leaving home ( to join the school bus in Wanchai ).  I am going to pm you the nanny bus company see if you want the info.

Hi Tkomother,

Actually there is no official information to know
band %.  As long as secondary school is 英中及學校以
學生為本 and have some many old classmates from
primary school.   I think it is ok as students no need to
face great changes in secondary life.

Cheers

Compare to St Joseph, 如果St Joseph 收左, 讀邊間好?
Ramondi 考試有冇名次? 是否要每科90 分以上?

Hi,

St Joseph 小學有8班, 上中學競爭很大。通常家長會選
St Joseph.

St Paul Boy , St Joseph & Raimondi 三間小學都不錯,會首選
St Joseph.
