If you understand WYK's culture, you'd know that changing the Princpal, etc. won't really change much.  The core issue is to upgrade the quality of the incoming students.  The downward trend of public exam results is caused directly by the deteriorating student quality.

這點也是。朋友阿仔在YMT讀小 ...

Band 1 with 5 bands (ages ago) = top 20%

Band 1 with 3 bands (now) = top 33.33% (seriously deterioration of student quality)

Give "九華功課吾多, 壓力吾大, 比學生有好大自由度, 如果學生自己吾識自主學習 ...", it requires ultra-HQ students to create academic success.  That's squarely a cultural issue.

To improve, either WYK drastically changes it culture (perhaps Dr. Tan has already tried his best?) or the quality of students drastically improves by picking only the best and most highly motivated under the DSS scheme.

WYK's former glory was not about taking up the lofty high-sounding social responsibility of teaching/coaching/training average (or slightly above average) students and turning them into top performers.  This might be what some 近年冒起的地區名校 have been doing in recent years.

What WYK did was to provide a collegial/amicable/low pressure environment for highly intelligent and highly self-motivated students to freely develop their own interest and potential, regardless of their social status (some could actually be underprivileged).  It was a success.

Without ultra-HQ students, the WYK model just wouldn't work.  Top 33% (current band 1) students are not going to generate enough momentum for WYK to churn out excellent academic results.

No upgrade in student quality ==> No hope for academic improvement
