大家好，想請問有關獸醫的課程，請問大學有邊幾間揀吖？

先回港做獸醫?醫人同醫動物不同，小朋友喜動物?平時做義工在動物醫院定醫院?

謝謝你的回覆，小朋友喜愛動物，她自己問了愛護動物協會和 HK Dog Rescue 都未符合做義工的最低年齡。
雖知小孩的理想經常會變，但有目標及理想總好過沒有，看見她自發找做義工的途徑也想給她多點 idea 及想給她知目標其實要一步步來。她回不回港做獸醫也沒問題，最重要她能找到自己的快樂。

平時養狗和貓外及兔，此外蛇及刺蝟Ok?在香港有機會接觸到。现是否去有照顧動物學校上堂?

真係慚愧　＞＜　因為我怕小動物，所以唔比她養。雖然她要求了很多年，但我還是克服不到。
所以她暫時只可以在朋友的家接觸小動物，或多數去西貢和動物玩足大半天。蛇等動物她都不驚的，去外國旅行時她有接觸，現於學校的ＧＳ房做值日生，照顧小動物。

或者有沒有一些其他機會是可以給小孩接觸或做義工？她早前有替愛護動物協會賣旗的。

另外如題，還是想多了解一些有關多倫多如想讀獸醫的途徑及資料，謝謝各位。

thx,明白的。講多少少入獸醫要bio,chem或動物科學，除分數外，要看文章及接觸動物經驗，知道獸醫是什麽一回事!所以很多會暑假去做義工如獸医院，英澳學習+實習約五年，入讀獸醫學院便可。祝心想事成，bye

Thanks for your reply. Yes, she is Canadian citizen.

Is it so hard to get a seat from Canadian vet schools? Is the vet school be a part of UT? or other U? Thanks.

你要畀佢養下。我小朋友因為養龜，10歲獸醫教識佢如何幫龜打針，餵龜食藥，幫龜買食物等等知識...直到現在，佢無點理d龜，我地幫佢跟尾，小朋友也不想當獸醫了

我既意見是，你覺得她好想做的事，唔早d畀佢知是甚麼一回事，投資最黃金學習期，不喜歡就一世了。

謝謝你的回覆，我就係咁諗，我想佢多接觸，多看清現實與理想的差距，所以想先找一些 idea,其實龜。。。我都驚　＞＜　但應該係我可以接受程度的入門級。。。

有時自己好羨慕啲朋友細細個已經有清晰的目標，方向等！佢哋可以好堅持，最後又成功！
唔一定係話讀或做啲專業人仕，係好欣賞佢哋每個做到自己理想的工作。做家長當然希望見到佢哋能夠做到自己喜歡的事情！

你的想法很正常，好多家長都是這樣想。但她想做vet到現在還未養過就沒有盡全力了(對不起要這樣說).我小朋友又係細細個話做vet,養過才知更多，看醫生都要千幾蚊一隻龜。還有，動物不是玩具，龜好長壽的。現在小朋友打算出國，連它們也要考慮如何帶入境。這些你有沒有考慮過？不能得個“想”(她好)字啊。

There are only 5 vet schools in Canada. Only one in Ontario (U of Guelph).
Most professional programs (law, medicine, dentistry, architecture, vetarinary science, etc) in Canada (and the US too) are post grad or senior entry. So she probably needs to complete at least 2-3 years of undergrad program before applying (go to universities websites to get admission details). That is a lot of time and money to invest into. But also good for students since they will then have enough time to consider whether they really want to get into that profession.
Vets do not only take care of small cute mammals like cats dogs and rabbits, but larger ones like cows and horses. And of course turtles, snakes, and other reptiles.
Competition is extremely keen to professional programs. They do not only look at school grades, they are also looking for students with genuine passion. Students would need to prep themselves for years. For example, if you want to apply to vet school, you probably need to get relevant part-time working experience or volunteer work.


How old is she? Besides trying to find volunteer opportunities in Hong Kong, find programs suitable for secondary students in Toronto area (sorry I have no leads, but try to see any universities have relevant summer programs). See whether there are summer programs or volunteer opportunities at Ocean Park and HKDR in Hong Kong as well. She needs more hands on experience with animals.
It is hard to say whether she will really want to be a vet. Just let her open herself to more options. It will be a long way to actually applying to vet school (after 2-3 years of undergrad, she will be at least 20 years old). By then she will have a more clear view of what vets do.

謝謝你的回覆，對的，我便是怕她只是’好得意’’好可愛’咁對待動物，但因為自己一向怕動物所以不能提供她和動物相處的機會。經大家提醒後，昨天已經鼓起最大勇氣和她一起買了２隻烏龜回家，希望她一步步體驗’責任及現實’吧！

Yes, I did enroll those summer courses for her at Ocean Park. For others volunteer opportunities, I tried to search a lot from internet but they don't provide any chances for kids around 10 years old! We will try few years later for sure!
