個人認為非好事,除非閣下子女口甜舌滑,人見人愛,車見車載,否則遇著妳小孩不是老師杯茶就慘了,所有偏見將應用全科!

ESF就是如此,class teacher教授主科,體育、美術、音樂、中文由專科老師教。

只要任教的老師對該學科有合理知識和愛心,兩種做法都無所謂。

IS老師和local相比,對學生係寬容好多。偏愛係人性,可能難避免,但針對、打壓某一個小朋友的事應該好少。

原來大部分IS 也是這樣。


My team has recruited a new colleague , she studied in IS for primary and local school for secondary . She told me that her math was really weak when she was in the IS . It was because the class teacher did not like math, and she did not teach the class math for 1 year.

IS 唔分科教,係因為教學方式不同,唔係 "一個班主任教所有科目" ,而係跟本冇分開科目教,大部分西方模式的小學都係咁。咁樣教,靈活好多,利多於弊。
當然,每個人喜好不同,喜歡分科教,冇問題,但唔好選國際小學。

Not sure why her teacher did not teach math for one year and no one complained and the school principal did not know. In any case, the chance that this happen is close to zero. Funny how she used that to explain her own weaknesses in math.

For your information, IS math is not exactly as weak as people described. I would say it is rather the abilities or issues of individual student.

不針對國際或主流,這是老師個人問題,所以,如有選擇還是專科專教比較好

專科專教 does not happen in mainstream western curriculum. The way western curriculum teach is to integrate different "streams" of knowledge into one topic. There is no such thing as separating the classes into different subjects. So it is not as simple as asking one teacher to teach all subjects.

For example, my kid was once doing a topic learning about the characteristics of spiders (science). And at the same time, he learnt the multiplication table or rule or x8 (math); and also learnt to write summary report of spiders (language or english). These are done all together as one huge topic.

同意,以幼小計,我所說的專科指體藝、又文學除主課程以外之語言,中學相對應要專科專教,我之所以有前述意見,乃因見到大多數主流幼稚園多以一班主任教授所有課程及跟進學童發展,個人認為如綜合多個老師意見及評估,對學童發展報告報告及意見該更中肯

兒子小三時候的班主任老師, 是英國人, 非常熱愛歐州歷史和政治, 聽說他也許不喜歡教Natural Science, 常常忍不住在上Natural Science時候離題講歷史.  我本來沒留意, 是其他家長話我知, 她們說想跟校方反映.   我再問個仔, 佢既回覆係老師講既故事, 好有趣, 再問下, 原來佢已經在不知不覺間知道好多歐州史, 甚至乎識得反過來考我二次大戰史實.   

我不覺得有大問題, 才小三, 也只是一年而已, 老師教少了Natural Science, 但開拓了其他視野, 兒子從小就養成閱讀興趣, 我於是趁機連隨添加了好些歐州史圖書, 他果然看得津津有味, 後來連中國歷史的, 也都看了些.
