The key factor is the performance of children during the interview.

For SJK, no interview to parents is required; SMM needs to interview both parents and children.

As I complete the application form for SJK, I note there are questions about first child, religious, relationship of father or elder brother with SJK, SJPS or SJC.  I think they are assessing the likelihood of my son to be accepted to study SJ Primary under the existing scheme.  My son is now studying K3 and has been accepted to study SJ Primary under the first round selection.

My younger daughter was admitted to study K1 at SMM.  Though she is a catholic, my friend's daughter, also a catholic, is only on waiting list.

Both kindergartens prefers "older" children but SMM does concern the commitment and time dedication of parents to children and SMM.

Based on past statistic, almost all students will be accepted to study SJPS "finally".  For SMM, please visit its website which publish its result of K3 students.  It is quite impressing.

你係男仔or女仔啊? 以我所知smm唔使教徒都返得架喎.. 女仔返就幾好, 因為好似派d小學都幾好架.

聖約瑟幼稚園 k2 機會大d, 因為我個仔無宗教

I think the background of K1 kindergarten is not quite relevant. SJK is a very traditional kindergarten. My son studied K1 at a kindergarten which adopts "activity" approach.

I view the selection criteria of SJK is:
1. interview performance
2. likelihood of the applicant to be accepted by the SJ primary school under the marking system.

Both SJ primary and SJK is at the same building. SJP has very strong "moral" obligation to accept all students of SJK. What SJK can help is to select those applicants with higher mark.

Maybe, if your son is studying at a catholic kindergarten, e.g. St Margaret Mary, it may have an advantage.

我都聽過話, st jo primary o係叩門時, 會盡量收晒自己kinder學生先, 不過實則收幾多, 我都八緊(因為我仔仔而家n1, 我都唔知應該點攪...)
又唔係一定分數高&有宗教至可以入sjk既, 我有個朋友, 咩關係都無, k1讀靈糧堂, 而家sjk k3, 都係唸住搏叩門入小學
不過佢仔仔係大仔(1月出世)

至於smm, 好多人話佢校長同st paul catholic校長熟, 所以好易幫到女仔叩門入wor

我個都係仔. 咁係咪讀銅鑼灣間st. paul 都大d 機會啦!
而 "靈糧堂" 與 " smm" 相比邊間好 d 呢?

銅鑼灣st paul's只有kinder/nursery收男仔, 小學中學都係女校wor!
聽聞spk係90幾%可以入返小學, 而spn就100%

For this year, about 1/4 of SJK students have been accepted by SJP. It is expected that about another 1/2 to be accepted at the 2nd round. The remaining 1/4 will be taken care at the 3rd round.

Based on the past few years experience told by SJP headmistress and SJK teachers. They did accept all students unless they elected not to study.

However, SJP indeed worried very much this year as there are so many Y2K boys applying P1.

同我之前八到既差唔多.....
心大心細, 而家仔仔讀nursery, 又想同佢入間好既讀k1, 又想k2至考st jo, 又想讀而家呢間(唔出名既鬼婆教全英文幼稚園)一路到k3....

我就係見今年女女考小一, 講黎講去, 除左考醒唔醒, 就係考英文好, 反而request中文好既, 小之又小, even係中小都要求英文好, 就算考中文, 都係d好淺程度既野
我個女而家間kg, 中文鬼咁深啦, 又如何? 佢英文對話都ok, 但reading就唔得, 所以都係蝕底, 哎, 所以有唸過俾仔仔讀間全英文, 起碼talk得先

我希望仔仔第時可以入到 sjk 既 k2, 因為 sj 有小學嘛!
唔駛煩. 但又唔知邊間讀 k1 機會大d 入到 sjk 既 k2?
有無人可以提供意見呀?
