The best scenario is to train up your own child on your own without sending him to tutorial center. Lower primary is the key stage for training up their ability to do, check homework, and establish good working and study habits and routine. These are essential for them to study in higher primary and later on secondary school. So ideally, parents are the persons who know their children best and carry the caring heart to teach them well.
The most drawback about tutorial center is that they are task oriented, i.e. they don't care how children handle homework that is the process when children learn the way to tackle problem and develop working habits, they care most about if homework are done before the students leave the center. So you don't know what kind of "habits" and "skills" they have learnt.
If you can find a good tutor who has heart to teach children to work smart, there's not so much harm except that for lower primary, their physical capacity may not be strong enough to support long working hours. |
