有朋友(佢唔係讀ESF嘅學校, 但都係IS嘅家長) 告訴我, RC 除了基本學費. 每年仲有D乜費物費, 加加埋埋, 成十萬一年. 想問吓係咪真架. 仲有, 想問吓每年學費 (包埋D乜費物費)平均加幅有幾多.  唔該哂.

咁誇張?  請問你講小學定中學?  小囡現讀YEAR 1, 除了 $200 something for stationery, $500 something for swimming lessons and a very small amount for buying extra story books for circulation.  Sometimes students are requested to donate $5 to $10 dollars for charity.  I can't notice if there is any other expenditure.

係囉,跨張到丫~~~
學費比起上年加左$150一個月.
$500 游水共11堂,ESF教練1:6;
唔記得左幾百蚊,買中文書簿.
最latest $18每人買本中文書,
再 circulation 全班輪流睇.
so far 英文書冇俾過$,
但幾個禮拜以來,
日日有書拎番屋企睇.

Let's make things straight. How did this friend of yours got the information? And what exactly this 乜費物費 meant by her? Did she mean FEES of the school, or EXPANSES of education of a child.

The school fees of RC this year is $64,000 for primary school and $88,000 for secondary. To make it 十萬一年, we are talking about an EXTRA $36,000 for primary school and $12,000 for secondary. May be you can tell me whether it sounds sensible?

Unless your friend also counts EXPANSES like lunch and snack money, high quality stationery, books (novels and other books for afterschool leisure reading) or even the newest Macbook Air, IPhone, Gregory back pack, Nike Limited Edition runners, chatered taxi to and from the school...... and the list can go on and on.....

每年學費 (包埋D乜費物費)平均加幅 : RC is a new school in itssecond year. All I heard is that there will be a raise of fees for 08/09. And no one can tell when yet another increment is going to happen. If you are budgeting, just presume that they will raise the fees every year. Just keep an extra5%, say, ON TOP OF inflation rate.

Tuition fee = $64800
School bus = $1000 x 9 (depending on the distance you are travelling).
Lunch = $500 x 9 (general estimation)
Stationary fee for P1 = $200-300 (I forgot the exact amount)
Swimming lesson = $500 for ten sessions
Book club = depending on your habit (in the first round, I bought about $2000 books, but afterward, I have not bought any yet because no space at home la )
Chinese books = I think about $500-600 a year!

These are what I can recall!!

I am not saying it is cheap but still affordable at the moment!  Of course, no one likes to see increment every year.  But the fact is that inflation is out there.  Probably, more money is needed next year.  But,  the point is whether you think it is worth or not, your child is suitable to this type of school style (education style!!).  

Just take this opportunity to express that being a sandwich class (I can't say my family is middle-class), I really wish our government can do something (e.g. tax allowance for education expenses! )

小兒讀緊RC year 3, 校內的開支跟a_d & chingyu所講的差唔多.  Y3就唔再有英文書俾你日日借返屋企, 不過每日都有書俾學生在校內睇的.  所以現在花多了錢買書.  不過, 要省錢的話, 可以去圖書館借啊.  學校所用的scholastic book club的書又真的平過在書店買(有時書店賣減價書都可能冇經學校買咁平).  到現在三年以來, 我認為校內的開支是極可接受的.  比較花費的卻是canteen的school lunch ($25 per day) 和買食物,飲品.  但其實家長都可選擇俾小朋友帯home lunch 和飲品等等.  所以, 這些$$要省的話, 都是可以有辦法省的.

如讀小學，可能之該家長是住港島區, 成2千幾一個月車費, 加上又order lunch, 加加埋埋就約要10萬蚊一年. 不過呢個係 exceptional case.

仔仔ｙｒ．１，　學費，車費，ｏｒｄｅｒ　ｌｕｎｃｈ，加埋約８千一個月．當然如加埋校外學野的活動，　一年真係要１０萬到．　　不過讀其他ｉｓ的朋友話，ｒｃ好抵讀，　又平又靚．

我想請教下,
你囝囝year 1 在學校order lunch,
佢初頭自己handle得到嗎?
有冇teaching assistant 幫佢地?

Canteen 每日有2款餐,
我見張order form 冇得選 A or  B 餐,
係唔係小朋友到時在Canteen 自己揀?

for 新生在學校order lunch, 家長要注意d咩 or 有咩o野係要提醒小朋友?

如果比小朋友自己帶lunch,
又有冇teaching assistant幫佢地?

我冇返RC睇仔仔食LUNCH,
只可以據仔仔所描述告訴你,
ORDER LUNCH的話,
在CANTEEN食,
STAFF 會比小朋友到時選擇想食的餐,
有時仔仔食飯, 有時食NOODLE,
很新鮮, 熱辣辣的,
會派飲品, 例如維他奶.
以前佢話STAFF 要佢地食晒先可以玩.

試過自己PACK LUNCH,
在樓上食,
佢開唔到LUNCH BOX,
叫STAFF(可能是老師)幫手開.
所以肯定有staff on duty 睇佢地.

唔好意思, 我知得好少,
自己很想小朋友獨立,
SO FAR 佢又返學好開心,
沒有compliant 任何事,
所以我不是跟得很細心.
告訴你一單搞笑野,
因大女學校上星期五是half day,
所以我誤以為仔仔亦是返half day,
沒有pack lunch 比佢, 又冇order lunch,
不過學校好細心, 發現佢只有餅仔snack,
自行安排佢去canteen 食lunch,費用後補.
對此安排, 我好感激!

好多謝你回覆.
亦從你的 '趣事' 之中睇到學校老師用心照顧小朋友,
很窩心.


RC canteen 的食物賣相非常吸引,
我其實幾想阿仔成為RC一份子之後,
可以在canteen 食lunch,
不過擔心佢handle唔到, 兼且唔o岩口味.
(好多時佢出街食飯淨係食菜 & 白飯!)
而家仲有幾個月比我諗,
我會好好考慮.

你的趣事, 我的朋友都有類似故事,
佢地話要返工, 又要兼顧兩個小朋友上學 & 課外活動,
耐唔中都會有少少 出錯.
好在小朋友身邊的人夠細心.

Hi TINGMUM and birdbird,

Once upon a time, I told my daughter I wouldn't let her bring the lunch box if she didn't complete her meal. Then she told me that she might get free lunch in the cafeteria.    I explained no free lunch in this world   but it shows the people in charge will let them eat before the bill.

In fact, most of my daugher's friends don't like the food very much.   Moreover, the educational assistants there merely "remind" the kids to have meal first before going to the playground.  They don't force kids to complete all. Therefore, I prefer leaving my daughter to bring the lunch box. Hence, I may ensure the portion she completed.

RC primary is good
but secondary, u must change
my child smokes,
bring girlfriend home over night
they msn during class
talk on the fone during class
listen to music during class

Hi lollipop (or I should say a new comer registered on March 2nd 2008),

Obviously you are bad-mouthing RCHK and Singapore Int'l School.  Please be reminded that we can read your responses on 5 threads simultaneously.

My cousin is studying in Yew Chung Secondary and my daughter is studying in RC Primary.  I am sure I know well in both schools.  Have you visited both schools personally?

I don't mean YC is not good.   Fortunately my cousin is studying very well in this school.

Just a wild guess.  Are you a student in YC and rejected by RC Secondary?

For other parents, it had better visit the schools and find out the facts rather than reading any rumours here.
