I heard some people said although BHS is an IS, in the eyes of the parents, its also ranked as 名校 in Kowloon Tong, which is quite competitive to DBS, LaSalle... , many celebrities' / civil officers' children studied there....

Is it true? Anyone heard of that?

Since I have more information about SJS but little on BHS. I want to clarify. Can anyone comment or give me your opinion? Many thanks!!

For BHS vs SJS, I could not have information on its comparison.

However, for your question on "parents ranks BHS as 名校'. It seems parents ranks ESF, IS as 名校. When parents choosing either to let their child to study at IS or local, those locals they select for comparison are top famous local school.

當然，如果你係想人認同你，話 ESF 學校似名校，一定有人附和，因為 ESF 係全香港最大的學校集團。
我未聽過人地話 ESF 同 DBS 等本地名校比，
講真，ESF 同本地學校根本唔同，大家有唔同的 "市場"，
我唔覺得會真係有人會兩邊都咁 BUY，
ESF 有幾 COMPETITIVE？
係人多申請，但係咁唔代表學校係好，更唔代表考到的就係優質學生。
我經常話，用申請人數睇，一定好誤導，
就例如考本地小學，大部份人都會入 FORM 去考 DGS，DBS，但係講真，有幾多真係掂？好多跟本衰 D 講，入普通 D 的私校都未得啦。
好多入 FORM 考 ESF 的，講真，都係想搏插班的 LOCAL SCHOOL 學生，唔好話英文未有 native 水平，有 d 甚至普通應對都未掂，咁就學人入 form。
有 d 重好笑，父母都唔係好識英文，孩子又唔係讀國際幼稚園，結果又誤打誤撞，考到 ESF，結果到 P2 或 P3 ，老師真係覺得佢英文唔掂，同佢父母講，要佢補集英文，你又聽過未？
唔好成日聽個十幾個好的例子，就以為 ESF 好好，其實，除了少部份 ESF 學生可能真係水平好，其實大部份都係發緊夢。
我話佢地發緊夢，唔係得罪，係事實。
讀 ESF 好多都只係一般家庭，父母都要工作，好少理孩子功課，學校少功課嗎？正好，父母更加唔駛理。一積月累，根本孩子學唔學到野，真係好成問題。當然，你可以話老師唔會唔理，但係如果真正係認識 ESF 的家長都知，根本 ESF 內，好多老師的工作態度都唔係咁好，有幾多個真係認真咁幫孩子 "補底"，真係鬼知。
個個小學六年，就要靠命數，遇個好老師，真係拔尖補底，
遇都個懶的老師，就真係過了成年都學唔到野。
你可以話，本地學校都有懶老師，
係，都有，但係本地學校有書跟，有功課跟，有測驗考試可以跟，家長好易知孩子進度，ESF 就要真係主要靠老師佢個人。
算啦，我講乜，都唔會有人信，亦唔會有人順。
ESF 而家獨大，勢力大，個個淨係識出黎唱好，造勢，
事實係唔係咁好，你自己諗。

多謝你回應. 不過我諗你有少少攪錯我個問題嘅main point. 我係聽到有人講"BHS"咁樣所以我先上嚟討論區clarify,想知會唔會因為咁而呢間比較難入.而絕對唔係你所講"想人認同我話ESF 學校似名校".

而ESF 好唔好我相信呢度好多網友都心裡有數, 你話"唔好成日主觀地，覺得 ESF 真係咁好", 但係點解你又咁主觀呢?.

其實呢個討論區d網友一向都好有禮貌客氣, 希望你d用詞唔好咁尖酸吧.

In SJS, we have parent consultation sessions, year end report, and standardised tests. The class teachers are very willing to talk to parents. I am satisfied with my son's progress in SJS. My son is studying in P.4, he is reading Stephen Hawking's "A Brief History of Time" and found it very interesting. He asked me to buy Stephen Hawking's other books for him.

According to the SJS 2005/2006 annual report, most students have passed the standardised test with good results.

Our end of Year 6 QCA standardised test results were once again very impressive. Level 5 is the highest possible score and 65% of our children achieved this for both English and Maths. As compared to the UK where schools are set a National target of 80% to achieve level 4 or higher. Sha Tin Junior School students achieve well above with 91% for Maths and 96% for English respectively. Analysis of this data has reinforced our decision to focus on writing and applied mathematical problem solving.]

Having problem parents is always the number one reason for problem kids. Don't put all the blames on the school.

It is very likely; I knew quite a few of them. ESF schools may offer another chance for the kids failing the interview. Once their kids are accepted, they will make a U-turn.

Some parents are more cunning, they spread bad news about a school before interview in order to improve the chance of his/her kids being accepted.
