真光(堅道)vs聖嘉勒<直升>

真光幼稚園(堅道)直升真光小學(大坑)
聖嘉勒幼稚園直升聖嘉勒小學(英文)
女兒將入讀Sept,2006 K1.
真光(堅道)和聖嘉勒幼稚園都已留位, 無論選擇那所都打算讓女兒直升小學什至中學, 所以有些壓力,很難決定….
真光口碑好不過是否只是中學? 而聖嘉勒老字號好神秘但聽說校風和英文好. 大家對兩所學校有什麼意見? 謝謝!

Thanks for your advice, do you have any knowledge about St Clare's as it is quite secretive, I have tried to see inside the school during my daughter's interview, but without success.

Kindergarten has a playgroug on the 1st floor. I don't know how does it looks like now. But when I took my daughter to inteview, the teacher told me they would have many activies for primary students, like gyn, French....etc. Do you know that HK Govt. would recommended all primary school change to a full day school staring from 2007. St. Clare's start to do it this year. By the time, your daughter promote to P.1 there would be 3 classes in P.1, curretnly they have 5 classes from P.2 to P.6. Also, they just have a new headmistress, I expected they would do much more better than before. Also, its high school is a band 1 English school.

Are you going to send your daughter to St Clare's?
or will you keep another school as reserve?
Do you know anything abt St C's Secondary school?
About True Light Primary, any comments?

Hi,

I'm responding in this topic because I'm an old girl from St. Clare's.

In my opinion, SC is definitely a good school:
1. Good english - more than 10 years ago the secondary school has been an english school with NETs, english has been adopted as teaching medium for all subjects except Chinese, Chinese history
2. Good discpline - for instance, hair accessories could only be in red, white and blue, all other colours are strictly prohibited

We used to have the feeling that the discpline was too strict and the rules were too harsh at that time, but as parent when I look back, the school did train up the students very well.

In my opinion, SC is not "secretive" but it is a school of 低調. Knowing form other bk moms that SC primary had appointed the former principal from Marymount as headmistress, it is believed that she will bring along reforms. Afterall, all my former school mates are proud of being graduates of SC.
