Grateful for the detail. I would like to ask a couple more questions :
While waiting for result, any ...
Bottles of water and biscuits like Oreo/saltine are provided by the Government, so do bring other drinks/food of your own. I did not switch on wifi so am not sure if the airport wifi is available. Everyone is assigned a chair and desk, and seats are arranged like that in an examination hall. Make sure all your devices are fully charged before leaving the plane. Bring a jacket/wrap in case it gets too cold. During the first few hours, nobody talked much, but after a while some people chatted a little, all with masks on.
After we were released, and having gone through immigration and collected our baggage, we were free to take any type of transport to go home/hotel. We ate dinner at the airport arrival hall before taking a taxi to the hotel.
As for check-in, it was smooth for me but may be that depends on the hotel. The hotel reception did check our quarantine orders (issued by DH), and someone took us to our room, probably to make sure we don't go anywhere else.
Happy to share here as friends of mine who returned to HK one week before me gave me tips.
