My son is currently at Reading school Y12 as a day boy.He attended boarding there from Y9-11.
In general very good teachers and care.
Near train station and Heathrow airport
Excellent exam results
Not many o/s boarders as it is only weekly boarding and highly selective ( for a state school)
Reading is in South vs. CRGS in the North
Although it has a small boarding community (50 odd boys)but the activities are board, but I guess not as much in comparison to full boarding as the boys leave school Friday after school and return on Sunday evening.
Both are excellent schools. It depends on what your selection criteria. If your son prefers to have people from HK then Reading is not for him. In my son’s 3 years boarding life he only came across to one boy from HK.
Hello guardian, your son was a full boarder for 3 years and then switched to day student local fee ( or no fee since it’s a state school)? What’s the criteria for such status change? Live in the uk with the whole family for 3 years? The school allows this? Thanks!
Day school is free as it is a state school. For Six form, you need to meet the GCSE grades / condition offer, live within the catchment area. The school admin asked us to submit council tax bill when applying for six form. My son is a BC.
