請問若沒有美國國籍,是否不可能到美國讀醫科。在美國想讀醫,先要在1st degree主修 pre-med,但曾經聽高人 ...
If you are Canadian, it's also okay; otherwise, it's extremely difficult although not impossible. Every year there are slightly over 100 foreign citizens getting admitted to US medical schools. Besides the relative difficulty (compared with locals) in getting in, it's an extremely costly exercise as we're talking about 8 years in university in total. The ball park figure is definitely over $5m. You have to ask yourself and your kid, why medicine, why US? He has to be extremely determined as it's a long path and he has to be prepared to be living in the States for good.
At first tier us universities, there are no majors called pre-med as such. It's just a term to refer to the group of majors for students who plan to go to medical schools after college. As long as your major covers chemistry and biology, you'll be okay.
On the other hand, there's a new trend for US graduates to come back to hong Kong to read medicine. I personally know two such students.
