I have KX21, less than 2 years.  However, I do not think users would like to re-sell their pianos in less than 5 years.

I remember my tuner told me that in the life cycle of a new piano, the first year is the most important year as the piano needs to be adjusted to cope with its owner's usage and playing habit.  Therefore, the piano has to be tuned at least 2 to 3 times in that year.

From the second or third year, the piano can perform at its height, i.e. it will be at its most satisfactory stage with beautiful sound.  That is why you said KK is willing to accept trade-in piano with half price within three years.

By the way, for anyone who is considering between Yamaha and Kawai, my penny to you is, one of the difference between Yamaha and Kawai is the keys of Kawai are heavier.  Therefore, if one owns Yamaha and is used to play with lighter keys, he/she will find difficulty to playing with Kawai.  Especially, if he/she has to use Kawai in the exam centre.

I rented a piano (Yamaha short piano, I forgot the model no., seems C108) from CaXXda Piano.  I first chose a half-year contract to see if my girl likes playing piano.  After that contract, I switched to a 1-year contract, as my girl doesn't quite resist playing piano.  The 1-yr contract includes 1-time piano tuning a year, move-in and out.  I can choose to pay the rents in a one-time lump-sum or by instalments with advance cheques.  I chose the latter.  Hope this information helps.
