KCIS PARENTS

Dear parents,

I would like to give some comments for KCIS.  My son is studying P.4 now since from P.2.  He was studying traditional kindergarten before.

I found that his reading ability was improving very fast in P.2.  Because he was reading ORT books every day and the assistant teacher would request him to read at least 2 times per week.  The teacher always gave a very good comments on his blue reading record book.  For his writing skills, he was improving very fast too.  My son told me that his teacher would request them try to spell an unknown words by using their phonics skills. They would write down the unknown words in a small index book.  The teacher was going to correct them one by one.  So that it will help them to remember the words.

Now in P.4, they are required to write the book report with details every month.  He can manage himself within around one to two hours.  I am so happy to see his progress.

For the discipline of the children, I found that the teachers are so tough to control every child.  Seems not like the other international school.

For Chinese lesson, they divided into 3 classes of all same primary's students by different grading.  Class A - Chinese ability was the best.  Class B - The Chinese standard was not as better as Class A.  Class C - most are for the foreigners.  For my son, he is in Class A.  Everyday they have Chinese homework and have to return on next day.  They also have Chinese dictation every week.  So it can also help him to remember more Chinese words.

Re: KCIS PARENTS

Dear Lamsuetwai,

I cannot gurantee that every class teacher is very good to the students.  But I can sure that my son's class teacher was good so far in these three years.

When my son was in P.2, the teacher changed their reading books every 2 or 3 days in a week.  Just based on their reading progress.  If I found the book that was too easy for my son, I would inform to the teacher by the blue hand book. (this is the hand book for the communication with the teacher)  So that she changed a higher level books for my son.  After the 1st year in KCIS, my son could read up to Level 7 already.  He could also understand the meaning of the book.

In English lesson, mostly the teacher told them a story and requested them to think and write what's the end of the story by their creativity thinking.  For English homework everyweek, they are required to make the sentences for 10 words.

Actually, you may also make appointment with your son's class teacher and requested for the explanation of the curriculum.  For my son, after around one week of the new term, the teacher would prepare a notice to us for the explanation of the curriculum each year.

Re: KCIS PARENTS

STBY,

Hi, my kid is in P1.  As read from the newsletter, I know the school's netball and football teams participated in inter-school competition with other IS and I want to know if students are free to join these teams or chosen by the teacher.  By the way, does your kid join any of these teams.

Re: KCIS PARENTS

Hi Hurrah,

My son didn't join the school 's netball and football teams.  However, as I know that both are free to join.  Football team is taught by Brizailliant Soccer.  But the netball team, I've no idea.
