My 2 cents... My daughter is also a band 1 student. After talking to parents here, I'm leaning towards CSS now… Also because:
1) CSS offers rare bilingual IB and I believe not only IB but our next generation needs to be good at both English and Putonghua (that’s also why we didn’t go for ESF etc).
2) we’re impressed by Principal Cheung as we met, and believe his vision and implementation. http://www.css.edu.hk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=312&Itemid=125
3) I was told that CCS has received more and more applications and more quality students going there, that made me feel good. In fact their website has also shown some excellent students (very impressed by the “Maths genius”). http://www.css.edu.hk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=249&Itemid=131
4) I talked to a few CSS students. I was also impressed. They work hard and quite sure what they are doing. IB learners are trained to think independently and built around their talents.
On the other hand we need to bear in mind:
a) This is a new school and their IB diploma results will only be known next year. In fact I don’t expect too much for the first year…
b) This school is new and a bit low profile so not quite well known or understood (I want more info, still)…
c) Traditional Band 1 schools should have more assured quality control over student results.
Looking forwards to other parents' comments, too... |
