singaporeans speak singlish which is normal and their accent is singlish it doesn't matter if you agree with it or not. would you say singaporeans accent is british or American or Canadian? no, its singlish, period! so what does singlish sound like? youtube it! if it sounds nice to you, so be it but I bet many English speakers would say its kind of 'special'.
HK students from IS(not SIS) can speak native English and they learn proper English, not singlish! Singaporeans cant attend IS in SG so in general, singaporeans just speak singlish! You can say singpareans English on average are better than Hk people however, people would argue there are many things like flexible mindset would be something hard to pick up under systems in Singapore.
But what we should wonder is how does Singapore achieve such high standard of academics and its something we can learn from them. eg. even Obama's daughter learns Singapore Math according to NY times and California state also allows public schools to use SG Math. |
