I regard, it depends on how s the English standard of the student. Indeed the standard of GCE A2 or AS standard is much higher than HKDSE, as it is more or less like English Literature instead of Use of English of HK. Many regarded that GCE A2 apply via non-jupas only consider three subjects are much more easy. This is the fact, as my son has been given conditional offer from HKU (Arts Faculty) at A* A B (any three subjects). The universities in HK would consider also the IGCSE results and internal exams, ECA as well as the principal's predicted grades on GCE A2, instead of simply stress on the GCE result. But you gotta be good/ excellent  in the captioned areas for unis to consider.
