Thanks for your info, any part 2?

It seems incompleted and not so related to the topic.

國際學生人數是不是等同non-jupas學生, 還是non-jupas學生的一部分, 報紙冇講.

如果等同non-jupas的話, 估計本地學生經non-jupas入hku的, 不及半百.

It seems to be incompleted to me, may be no part 2.

Local students through non-jupas must be more than 50 in HKU. EAS also counts as non-jupas, just Medicine is more than 50 in HKU. Non-jupas included GCE AL, EAS, IB, Associate Degree, Higher Diploma and other countries examination board etc.

According to the recent discussion between my husband and the admission officer of HKUST, there will be no EAS under the local secondary education system(NSS).

For example HKU Medicine, EAS:JUPAS:Non-JUPAS 1:1:1 in the past (That's why I guess EAS is not under JUPAS), so what will be the split in NSS? The same for Global Business in HKUST, what will be the split?

As you mentioned EAS is under JUPAS subsystem, JUPAS students shouldn't complain, they only need to work harder and smarter to go through EAS.

Any university would like to take more EAS students as they are the cream of elite. I can see universities will take more IB students as they are more properly trained upto university level and fall in non-JUPAS.

Well, the number of successful JUPAS students is over 17,000, not 12,000 as I thought before. So, the competition for the hittest programmes is even higher.

Total no. of applicants:
(incl. degree / associate degree / higher diploma)

36,249

No. of Main Round offers:

18,731 (51.67%)

Our info are correct, if our reference of JUPAS for HKAL applicants is around 12000; mattsmom's figure included AD and HD as stated in JUPAS(which assume as non-JUPAS).

Even JUPAS's info is so confusing.

Eventually, I am not very interest in the numbers of JUPAS or non-JUPAS. I am more interested in the perception of admission officers to non-JUPAS students, esp IB students.

As my son is in IBDP bridging program, non-JUPAS is more relevant to my case. Similar academic results, admission officers are more favour IBDP students as their track records in their universities or internationally. It's a good news to me as parent.

In non-JUPAS, mixed profiles of students from different examination authorities, some is very outstanding and some is pretty so so.

That's why my son opt for IBDP instead NSS, he can
1. either study in HK; or
2. top notch universities internationally.

If I got info for UST and HKU will notify U

I browsed CUHK Orientation Day schedule, looks very useful. But some faculties' admission talks are overlapped even they arranged 2-3 talks, we either take one only or we split to cover as much as possible.

I discussed with my son last night, he likes to go and knows more about non-JUPAS.

Just back from CUHK, the admission talks are very informative and some sharings from graduates and professors also insightful.

I will start another post to share what I learnt from those talks.

After listening to those talks in CUHK, I have the following thoughts:

1. More non-JUPAS seats offered to graduates (both undergraduates and postgraduates, from local and overseas universities, like Cambridge, UC Berkerly.... ) in hot programs, like 15+ in medicine. Professors highly regards their academic results, maturity and life experience, this attributes can guide the newbies to move in the right direction.

2. More mainlanders as well, now is more than 5%. I check with HKU and CUHK, its around 10% already - undergraduates only. Postgraduates even higher %.

ANChan59,

請問:

1.  香港人循non-JUPAS入大學要交幾錢學費?
2.  內地人循non-JUPAS入大學要交幾錢學費?
3.  外國人循non-JUPAS入大學要交幾錢學費?

1. According to CUHK, if you are no need to apply for student visa, you are classify as local. For local students, the composition fee for the academic year 2010-2011 is HK$42,100.

2.Tuition fee for undergraduate mainland Chinese students is $119,000 per annum. The tuition fee is payable annually by 2 installments on dates to be prescribed by the Registrar, the first in September and the second in January.

3. Tuition fee for undergraduate international students is $119,000 per annum. The tuition fee is payable annually by 2 installments on dates to be prescribed by the Registrar, the first in September and the second in January.

大陸學生真係又叻又有錢呀!

It's my pleasure.

Most of them are elites from the 高考,they have scholarships to attend the university in HK. Universities and some foundations offer scholarship for them. Not just in HK, but also in other countries.

So parents still talk about happy and relaxed learning, open their eyes....... we are way behind in education, attitude and vision......

May be off-topic.

Chan Yik Hei is a good example, he was in Stanford to attend the summer program and his English standard is much much behind and not learn much in the program.

Eventually, a boy from Chinese Women Welfare Association Seconday School, got the Gold award of Intel Science Competition in environmental plastics, also had the right to name a star. The boy is even much better than Yik Hei in innovation and educational achievement.

The quote from CUHK medicine is misleading:
1. EAS - 1/3
2. JUPAS - 1/3
3. non-JUPAS - 1/3

2/3 means EAS + non-JUPAS.

Sport Science and Management related to IVE HD students, they are HD holders in related programs and most of them are elite sport stars in HK.
