I did not go for the interview but also want to share
1. Many schools also have no playgroud opened for warming up the kids.
e.g. true light Caine Road, St Paul Kindergarten, St Catherine, Kenville, HKPS, Rosaryhill, ST Paul Church, etc.
I am sure the school has its consideration for not opening the playgound - maybe due to heavy people traffic, logistics reason, or they don't want the girls to get too excited as they are looking for gentle and graceful girls, etc.
As a matter of fact, parents can warm up the kids before going to the school.
2. If you are used to interact with many different kids, you will find that it is really not too difficult to differentiate the character and traits of different kids in just 5 minutes. One can go & observe the kids in interview class, in playgroups, during interviews, in pre-nursury schools. You may find that some are really brilliant, outgoing, proactive and confident while some are really shy and has no eye contact with the teachers, some don't speak up with strangers and some others don't follow instructions.
Over past few months I spoke with many K1 applicants on the street, inside the lift, in the restaurants, theme parks, shopping malls, etc with which I don't know them. Cause I always ask my son to say hello & good morning to make new friends and shake hands with them, etc to learn politeness and the way to socialize with other kids. Then I can really tell the difference of the kids' performance when I ask those simple questions on name, age, sex, etc.
3. If a 2 yr olds kid can tell the name of the different kind of vegatables, then the honour goes to the Mom, not the kid. Cause the kids is not born to know this knowledge, it is not because the kid is smart. It is the Mom who is smart enough to take the baby to the supermarket and let her touch and learn the name of each of the different kind of vegetables.
This shows that the home training is very good, lively and comprehensive. For those who feel that the interview questions are very easy, I disagree. I think that simply this question can already filter the top student among ten. If the Mom really made a great deal of effort in training the baby and she did a good job. then if I were the school, I would also like to take this child cause I know that the Mom will continue to work her best to groom the child. I am not suggesting the school will just judge the babies on this question only, but I think this is really a difficult question that I am sure not many babies can answer it well.
4. I have heard that the teacher who conducted the interview will put on a final comments such as Good, fair, etc. Then the forms will be separated to various groups for furthur perusal. |
