When did you lodge in your application form, the principal said that they will give priority to those loge in their form early.

I lodged in the form in Sept last year and have not receive their offer yet.  Frankly speaking don't like the enviornment of their school at Cheung Sha Wan. If I lucky enough to get the offer, I am thinking of deferring it for one year until their school move to Ma On Shan, don't know if this is possible though?????

i think you need to apply their school again next year, ask them first

I have applied for my girl for P.5, but they call to tell me that there is no vacancy this year.  So need to hold.  There should be many more vacancies next year after they move to Ma On Shan as they will take 2100 students in total, right?

My daughter is now at St Catherine and my husband does not want to give up the chance of trying local school, while I have a different view, I want to secure a place for my daughter at International school. Phoenix is the only choice of international school for me as I did try SJS but did not even get an interview.

I feel that SJS is so arrogant that they offer places only to foreigners and perhaps some Chinese pupils if their parents are in the grade of directors or professors, I know this from my friend whose 's boss just got her girl accepted in SJS in the second round.

I don't know how Phoenix compares to SJS but it seems to me that Phoenix teaches more Chinese than SJS.  I like Phoenix because it is just opposite my home by the time they move to Ma On Shan, but to suffer a year at Cheung Sha Wan, I feel sorry for my girl because the facility is very poor.

I've got the offer letter today too. I'd be interested in the possibility to defer the place as I'm also living in Ma On Shan and I considered Cheung Sha Wan a bit too far.

Elegant, did you ask Phoenix about this possibility ?

HI, Ruby1219,

I asked the principal about this and he said there is no guarantee for a place if you are deferring till next year but you will get the priority of interview for P2. He added that for those not getting the offer this year, they will put on waiting list for P2 and will have chance of getting into P2 next year.

Frankly speaking, I rather they put my child on a waiting list, in that case, I can apply again next year and I think the chance is higher than those deferring.  This is just my thought.

I see. Then the question is how high is the priority. I know from this year, they already have a large no. of applicants far exceeds the no. of places they offer. So, it can be risky if the place is not guaranteed. How did you talk to the principal ? Can I ask for him via phone ?

Dear Ruby,

I asked the principal about this while he showed us around the school.  I don't know if he would accept inquiry over the phone.

I also got the offer yesterday, we are still deciding what to do because my husband does not want my daughter to study at their Cheung Sha Wan school.
