ESF - Graduate 1 year early?

Hello,

I am not sure if I got it wrong.  ESF starts children as young as 4 years 8 months for P1.  They have 6 years in primary school and 7 years in secondary school, total 13 years.  This is the same as the local schools and most other international schools.  In this case, since local schools and other IS do not start P1 until when the kid is at least 5 years 8 months, does this mean ESF students will graduate one year earlier than almost all schools in HK?

Am I wrong?

That's also my guess when I was trying to figure out how old my boy will be when he graduates high  school if he starts Y1 in Bradbury this Aug. at 4 yr. 10 mo.

Re: ESF - Graduate 1 year early?

The UK curriculum (ESF is basically UK curriculum) starts P1 at 5 years old and have 6 years in primary + 7 years in secondary.

However the Canadian and the US curriculum start P1 at 6 years old, and are both 6 + 6 (they start grade 1 at 6 years old).

The main difference (or advantage?) would be when compared with local Hong Kong students. But the Hong Kong system would be changing to 6 + 6 soon so the difference would no longer be there.
