ESF English Story Book level ?

My daughter is studying in ESF. What is the level of English story book for a P2 study in average ? She is reading level 5 in P1. Now is level 7 in P2.  I have asked the teacher about it but she said that my daughter is acceptable.

My daughter said that only she and two more classmate in level 7. All the others are higher but she don't know what are their levels. She just know the most highest level is 18.  Is this kids with reading level 18 is extra smart ?

Any comment is most welcome !

all kids are different, some are good at English and some are good at Maths. I think if the teacher thinks your daughter is ok, she should be fine.

from what I know the average reading level for P.2 is 10 to 15, but some P.2 kids are well above level 20 already. Yes, it means they are stronger in English but it doesn't mean they are good at all other areas.

Thanks a lot for your response.

As I was infomed that ESF will allocate students to different classes in P3 and will stay in the same class till P6.

Do you know what are the criteria in the allocation of students in different class. As there is no examination in P1 & 2 , the only standard that teacher or parent in hand is the English reading level. Will the class allocation will be allocated as per the readng level ? Grateful if you could advise !

you must have seen your daughter's P.1 report, English is not the only subject, many students in fact have problems in Maths, just that they don't have a level system.

I don't know how they allocate students but I don't think it is based on the reading level. You can always talk to the teacher you are worried!

Y2KChild,

Just a side-tracked question: how will you keep up with your kid's Chinese?  Do you have any tutorials for him?  Is he learning the traditional character?  Does he learn in Mandarin or Cantonese?
