I copy the following from the application form.  It does mention "guarantees priority to the waiting list".  Seems not much parents can do.


"The Nomination Rights is a means for parents to gain a “fast track” entry to Renaissance College. It is a non-refundable HK$400,000 Nomination Right, which guarantees priority on the waiting list and a place

Yes. 第一round 有同學收到interview invitation 而我和部分其他只收到waiting list for interview. 之後有同學收到RC再send email invite interview, 最後兩位也已經有offer 喺手。他們也沒有買NR. 再重新remind 其實NR只係有interview 優先但最後還是決定於interview result.

你意思是比左2000appliciation fee? 那當然未必有interview, it's really by luck to have interview chance unless who buy NR. That's fair enough, 他們有買NR實在有優先權利嘛！不過正常你會收到RC 信問你願意put on wait list or not, 如果你有心讀一定要send reply slip 比RC, 之後佢地好快會確認你已在wait list 排緊；有部分可能方棄offer咁RC會按wait list 條隊再call interview. 加油不要放棄！

We didn't buy NR for RC. Both my friends and our children got offer, but we had withdrawn.

The interview was go by school, which means they will put the same school's student in the same group. My daughter said she had so much fun but she forgot what she did.

Just know some news, half of applications the INR, after interview they were rejected because of English skill not good... Wow, their interview so high requirements? Be honest,I think because of the money, they will have more chance ..but...

As said on RC website and many parents stated in this forum, nomination right does not guarantee you a spot and you still need to pass the interview in order to get  a spot....

Actually the teachers doing interview wouldn't know if you have NR or not, as said, it only grant you an interview chance, so it's not surprising that substantial people are failed. Yes the English standard required for the popular IS/PIS primary are quite high now because they have so many candidates to choose from. Even for ESF kinders, some candidates from local nurseries are rejected too due to " failed English standard".

A few years ago, my friend's child failed the interview at both SJS and RC. The thing is, she is definitely an english speaking child. She has no issue with her spoken English.
The only thing we suspect was she was usually very very shy. And teachers might suspect she did not understand instructions.
I would say that you also need to make sure your child is willing to talk and respond to instructions.

身邊有兩個cases，一個有買NR，一個無買，兩個都有interview，兩個都failed。有買NR那個的爸爸是ESF alumni，ESF比咗兩次機會佢，考咗兩間不同的ESF小學，但兩次都唔pass.

好多人話ESF interview唔難，standard唔會好高，我個人覺得佢個interview唔係話難定易，佢哋唔會叫小朋友做好難的task，但佢哋有自己一套觀察小朋友的方法，而我感覺佢哋傾向鍾意外向D嘅小朋友。我嗰兩個朋友的仔女，考兩次都唔收那個係女仔，佢本身學術上無問題，仲幾叻，但佢社交上同普通小朋友有明顯分別，佢唔多睬人，而且唔係好聽指令，唔跟大隊，我行我素。呢個女仔後來考上咗一間Local名女校。

另一個朋友考咗唔收的係個男仔，佢本身讀ICS，學術又係好好，但偏靜，唔係好動活潑的男仔，佢比ESF reject咗後考ISF仲收咗佢。

所以，我覺得ESF自有一套收生標準，唔係睇小朋友的學術叻唔叻，反而可能較著重小朋友的社交能力。

Alumni priority is just below NR but above ESF kindergarten, I'm therefore quite surprised that he had to buy NR to get his child an interview, assuming he really is an alumni.
