It has been twice a week for English and Putonghua; not sure if it will be every day next year like someone said earlier.
When we talk about NET (Native English Teacher), which English dialect and accent you are looking for……. British? American? Australian? European? Asian? NET is just a sales pitch for some schools. Quality is more important than quantity in a local school. Would 5, 10, 15 …. minutes daily English lesson for a class of 15 students ensures the kids would pick up English well? What about those 21 hours outside of school hours every day?
They have a very busy schedule in 3 hours every day ….. you will see. They got more space since last year taking up the old but renovated primary school campus. With such a large campus and number of student per grade, it seems this allows them to organize special learning activities easily and effectively with their resources comparing to other smaller schools…… you know setting up a special activity or lesson then run 150+ students through it in the morning then in the afternoon for a grade……; it can’t be as effective and efficient if it is for like 50 students.
http://www.ihmk.edu.hk/content.php?id=12 The garden/farm, bike/running track, swing/slide, rock climbing….. are all newly added this year as well. They have a library (operating like a real library too); my elder daughter is so looking forward to library day every week. Just because they have so many students, they must have a lot and different varieties of books. It is a Catholic school, so obviously there are going to be religious education and activities too.
To me, the past year and half has been all about improvement. Their webpage was like ...... sorry "crap" 2 years ago. It is nice, organize and informative now.
