to train for aural test casually,
(1) TAPPING RHYTHM
- put on any classical music such as mozart or beethoven as background music for sometime (perhaps a week or two as background music), and then play any piece at random time and ask your kid try to TAP the pulse. Once your kid get -the-hang of it, ask her/him to do it again, TAP the first beat louder.
(2) Sing as an echo
-again, just put on any songs and ask your kid to sing back what they hear.
OR
- pick a bar (or maybe 2 bars) from their repertoire and ask them to sing it back from memory
(3) Rhythmic change
- this requires the child to be able to identify obvious difference from some similar melody
(4) Musical features
know the vocabulary cold! (preferably know how to read those in Italian terms). That is:
a) Dynamics - Forte (loud) / piano(soft)
b) Articulation - staccato (detached) / legato (connect)
c) Tempo change - accelerando (speed up) / rallentando (slow down)
d) Gradation of tone - Crescendo(gradually getting louder) / Decrescendo (gradually getting softer) |
