Advice on Chinese or French stream in G1

Hi parents,

My boy is lucky to be offered a G1 place next year.  I should be grateful if you could share about your opinions on Chinese or French stream as follows:

(1) In French stream, besides teaching all Chinese in Putonghua instead of Cantonese in the French stream, will teaching of Chinese writing also equally emphasized?

(2) Are two streams also available in secondary school?  Are students able to change to another stream on promotion to Form 1 (i.e. ? change back to English stream from original French stream in DBSPD)

hello labelle,
very nice to know you here.
we still in process of choosing primary school.
as french or chinese stream, we are still debating as the level of french language is not as good as we would like to be (except of cause lycee francais).
on the other hand, chinese is still quite difficult and may need more hard working...
anyway, the 1st thing now is still wait and see which school would take our son after interviews and then we will see if we have to choose or do we have a choice....
