Sorry for interruption.

Wisekid2007,
Do you mind to tell which int'l school you selected for your kid?  I share the same view with you. Thanks.

Yes, I think so.

Many newly established DDS or private schools have a very good philosophy in education but they can hardly implement it satisfactory because of part of or a mixture of the following ...

Good for you.  But not everyone has $250,000 for debenture and $10,000 for monthly school fee.  And just the application is already $1200.  Think it is unfair to compare 2 totally different classes here.

My boy is now studying at German Swiss International School (GSIS).

Moreover, majority of the international schools in HK are very good in delivering a read education.

If kids can get into SPCC or DGS & can keep up, why would their parents want to send them to international school?
Most parents from these elite schools would consider sending their kids to boarding school abroad at secondary school level (by which time their Chinese would be considered at least adequate) rather than to an international school!
Don't get me wrong, GSIS is indeed one of the top international schools in Hong Kong, but not everyone buys the concept of international schools.
Given the choice of SPCC or DGS, most would not even give IS a second thought.
Just as you believe in IS education, plenty more believe in these elite schools education.

No, it depends on your expectation of the standard of Chinese to be achieved.

In fact, the Chinese standard of many IS students are quite good and up to acceptable working level (except for being a C ...

HAHA~

Have you ever considered the fact that not many international school students can switch over because they won't be able to get in or indeed keep up purely because of the Chinese language factor?
I confess to being ignorant as I really haven't heard of many SPCC or DGS students switching to international schools, at least not the top students who can keep up.
But plenty of them do switch to boarding schools abroad & most of them don't have a problem with the switch.
That seems to suggest that their English, though probably not as good as an IS student, are not at all inadequate.
Put it this way, their English level is a lot higher than the Chinese (or German / French) level of an IS student (comparing each other's second language so to speak)!
Sure there are a lot of deficiency in the elite school system but IS isn't perfect either. In fact, there is no perfect system because different people have different needs.
I respect your strong feelings for IS but at the same time I do feel that you should show respect for the elite schools as well.
