我剛在BB Expo那兒join了一個由JWT Kids Gym 搞的playgroup, 但不知好唔好, 因近排發現到只得18個月大的囝囝, 脾氣壞了, 及當天在BB Expo, 他不敢嘗試去玩現場的Demo, e.g. 爬入小小tunnel 內, 那我便考慮和他一起參加playgroup囉! 讓他能多些接觸其他人, specially same age children.....

Thanks.  Let me know if JWT Kids Gym is good after you have started class.

I have tried trial class at Gymboree and Kindyroo.  They have a big cushioned play room with slides etc for the babies to crawl and play.  The class is roughly divided into half hour instructions from teacher and half hour free time for play in the playroom. My baby seemed to enjoy the half hour free time in the room. But I find the actual class with the teacher only so so....at least at 11 months my baby didn;t seem to know what's going on.

Good point about JWT is their location and it's newer (ie bright and clean).

If you like gym type, you may want to try My Gym also. it's similar set up but have a slightly longer group play and teachers' English is better at My Gym.

I also send my son to Tutor Time (which is a pre-school), highly recommend their module (half English+half Mandarin) but location is out of the way (Tai Tam)

My Music Box is also pretty good. I like their structure and teachers are very enthusiastic

我剛上了一個有關playgroup的家長講座, 是一間叫 "Children's Own Workshop" 既 center. 佢地係銅鑼灣My Music Box樓上, 5/F. 我都係送我小朋友去My Music Box上堂先見到。

佢地係montessori playgroup, 咁岩我都想知多些有關montessori既information, 仲叫埋我先生一齊去. 結果我地都覺得好好, 佢地既導師好詳細介紹montessori既理念、教學方法和教具, 雖然我對montessori都有少少認識, 但是就唔知道原來佢地都做得好全面, 因為佢地地方好大啦。我先生就最鍾意佢地有外籍英文老師同北京普通話老師, 我仲幫我小朋友報左佢地既trial class, 不過waiting list 緊。

我個仔宜家返緊children's work shop,但是我覺得麻麻.最初是聽老闆娘介紹得好好,但是結果每次開始就是老師帶住一起唱歌,大概十來分鐘,然後做colouring.之後半個鍾是自己玩 toys 時間.跟住就洗手食餅乾.
同埋他們的老師得一個好,另外幾個鬼妹都是麻麻的.另外都不便,因爲一個鍾就是$195.

oh ! So how many kids in the class ? How old is yr bb ? How would you rate Children's Workshop among other pg u send yr bb to ? Is it the only Montessori pg u've been to ?  Sorry so many questions.

I am joining Saturday class for 2 hours and there are around 10 - 12 kids. My son is 2.5 years old, and the kids there are from 2 to 4 mostly.
I have joined another pg in causeway bay 1  year ago, but it is not Montessori.

I think they spend too much time to let the kids play the toys and dont teach many things except singing songs. Their schedule is as below:

10:00 - 10:10am sing songs
10:10 - 10:15am learn few pieces of cards
10:15 - 10:20am coloring
10:20 - 10:45playing toys
10:45 - 10:50am washing hands
10:50 - 11:00am snake time
11:00 - 11:10am story time
11:10 - 11: 20am coloring/painting
11:20 - 11:45am playing toys
11:45 - 12:00am singing songs

I am looking for a good pg for my son also. but i think this one is really soso.

hey thanks for the info. I understand what u mean. I take it there was limited interaction by the teacher as the kids are encourage to free play & explore in Montessori style ?
1 teacher to 10-12 kids with no assistant ? ummm . . . .

No, there are 2 teachers, but only 1 is good. The other one even hurted the hand of a kid 2 weeks ago by closing the door. there are about 1 or 2 assistants also, but they are not always with kids & sometimes just walk around.

And one thing is that I have been there about 2 months but no Mandarine class provided at all.

oh no, doesn't sound organized wor. how long did you commit the class there - one term ? Are u likely to continue ? Which kindergarten are you planning to send your son to?

Yes I think some teachers there are not qualified at all. I just renewed 1 term (12 hours), cuz I joined it for my son to have a better fittable school life before kindergarden.

Even though I think the school is soso, it seems my son enjoys there very much. Maybe cuz their place is quiet big & a lot of toys there. Also, my son loves music very much.

He's already in Victoria and just started since last week.

Hello all,
i went JWT for trial class on tue. the place is big and new, the toys also very new and colourful.  BUT i think they pace is too tight, the teacher looks rush to next step. and actually they seldom to use english to communciate with each student.

I'm looking for a class with Native-English speaker..
