virgokaren,
Yes, there are quite a lot of HK Chinese living in Brisbane (though not as much as in Sydney and Melbourne).
Some people will say that schools are academically better in New South Wales and Victoria. Frankly, I don't know enough to agree or disagree with this statement.
So education standards aside, personally, I think Queensland, or Brisbane in particular, is an ideal place for study. Brisbane's lifestyle is layback and simple and is not as cosmopolitan as Sydney and Melbourne, and hence, less attractions to distract the kid.
My niece is now studying in University of Queensland and one of the reasons why my brother chose Brisbane instead of Sydney was because a good friend of his, who has lived in Sydney for over 10 years, told him that a lot of overseas students like to spend their free time in the casinos.
Safety wise, Brisbane is quite good. People here are generally friendlier and more helpful too.
Weather wise, it's pretty nice all year round and that's why we're called the Sunshine State. The weather is not as extreme as in Sydney and Melbourne. |
