Caffeine is probably the most frequently ingested pharmacologically active substance in the world. It is found in common beverages (coffee, tea, soft drinks), in products containing cocoa or chocolate, and in medications.
Based on available research evidence, it is suggested that reproductive-aged women should consume </=300 mg caffeine per day (equivalent to 4.6 mg kg/ bw /day for a 65-kg person)
while children should consume </=2.5 mg kg/ bw /day.
Same in our case - not only coffee and tea, even Chinese tea (to go with dim-sum) or the Taiwanese style ones have never been given to our kindergarten kid. For most of the time, it's warm water or at most some herbal tea such as chrysanthemum tea (not strong nor too sweet). At most, we would accede to his request for a cup of Ovaltine (diluted with not much sugar). It's his luck not to have a liking for cold drinks, so he doesn't really know how coke or 7-up tastes like.
can't drink (for a whole cup) due to health issue.. but i and my husband drink daily , so my daughter will ask to have a sip but not always... we usually will let her just for a sip...
